What's new

How hard is inflation going to hit, or has hit?

You damn skippy. Everything will be on the menu

I'm actually thinking about trying to can some of the meat.
Get the ball canning book it isn't as hard as you think, problem is canning is addictive. Then there is frezzeing, drying...

Me? So I"m I wrong telling you to buy stuff for when things get bad or the fool for taking precautions

The only problem with your scenerio is the indian is only growing food for his immediate family and maybe village.
Farmers tend to be the great planners, they are always looking at trends what's going to happen 6 months, next year, 2 years from now. They are constantly watching the weather patterns, trying to guess if they are going to get the harvest in before rain makes the field to muddy, the moisture contint in the grain to high.... You ever wondered when you went in for a loan who would make one payment a year, farmers and ranchers, because they get one payday a year.
I was talking about me:laughing:
I've been beating that drum for a while now, long enough my :spam: expired:laughing:

Yeah, I'm saying the Indian was keeping an eye on next year's food supply, while most Americans are 72 hours from anarchy, the veneer of civilization is thin

On the ride back from the springs to Denver my wife saw McDonald's was hiring starting at $19. My step son is applying for jobs and Walmart is starting at $18-25.

Middle class is feeling the squeeze in Denver metro.

Ramen is 35 cents a package, it was overpriced at 29 cents. Ramen is the porcupine of the grocery store, subsistence food you dont take unless your about to starve, and they raised the price.

I'm ready to burn a small town to the ground...

hell, it's almost $4 for the 12 pack now even down in the cities

which really is still dirt cheap for depression calories considering how far everything else has jumped up

ate waffle house the other day on way home from visiting mom.

Whole store was closed off except 4 tables because only one person in the store could handle serving that. Tlked to him and he said same old deal noone wanted to work. They offering free all star breakfasts just to people that just apply and only had one taker in one week. I noticed the price on an all star was $9.25. he said they just increased price by .25$ lst week Not that long ago it was $7 and i remember it being $5.89 not that long ago in the mid 2010's....

I build restaurants for a living......they still building wide open, and alot sit empty not able to open for a few weeks after completion. I'm gonna be fucked soon

Yeah, I dont remember the 12 pack being a much better deal. I can deal with chicken, but beef, shrimp, qnd oriental (soy sauce) can fuck right off

they make 12 packs of individual flavors, not just the variety pack
I get the chicken and beef ones
iirc the spicy shrimp one was good, but not easy to find
can't remember the pork one, though the most common thing I toss in with the noodles is a pork chop outta the freezer so... lol

Pork is my favorite.
Beef is best…. Throw some frozen vegetables in there and finish off with a cracked egg on top!!!!!
Sirachia if you got it!!!!
Poor man feeling good right there!!!!

No, that's quick-gel and jetlube.

copper antisieze in a 5 gallon bucket?
Quick-gel is bentonite drilling mud and jet lube is what goes on the tool joint threads of the drill pipe.
If I even look at either of these two products, I get covered in them.

Fuck both of those. Had a hand throw a sack of gel in the bed of my pickup and busted it. 100lb sack makes a hell of a mess once it gets wet.

:lmao: if you thought that was bad you should see the ez-mud gold.

So this weekend Planetsxs.com had a 10% off sale on everything. I hop on their website to see what tire prices are.

May '21 I bought four 32*10*14 Comp compound Zillas for $900 from planetsxs.com

Check prices now and they are $325 each! I don't know if it's because of all the container ships in the bay or if raw materials have gone up that much or both but holy fuck.

step it up a notch - cook, season & freeze the ground meat of your choice. Re-heats excellent for some protein in anything, I use it for 'gourmet' Ramen all the time.

Yea I'm watching for brisket to go on sale so I can throw a couple in the freezer and use in my deer burger meat.

Also, if things get as bad as we think they might... I won't be participating in "hunting season" or other good times game and fish commission rules. Let 80/20 burger hit $25/lb and see me in a ghillie suit with crossbow in May.

I am now picking up deer and elk from the road. If it’s really fresh its in the food freezer. If its questionable at all the. Its dog food. At least we can do salvage tags here now. Makes it so its not a midnight operation.

Also looking at buyinf a 1/4-1/2 cow here in the next few weeks. That should give us some breathing room for a bit. I feel like you cant have too much if you can properly store it and keep it frozen. Have pretty much a small dedicated generator for our freezers hooked up to a 500 gallon propane tank

This is why I've been thinking real hard about on grid solar here lately- one of the reasons anyway.

Not sure if its the smart thing or not but im considering "off grid solar" running a few key items... and those are also the omes that draw the most. Well, water heater, garage freezer, and mini split. Those circuits are already easily isolated from the rest of the home due to the layout and i can easly do it without letting the county know. If shtf then im good to go.

Power here is cheap(ish) and reliable. I'm fine with staying tied on. Especially if the magic sun juice sparks breaks even with the store bought sparks. And if shit really really hits the fan, I don't have to finish paying for it so I got free solar.

My shop is on a 2nd line, and I'd leave it alone. I can run it off dad's Bobcat 250 if needed.

I'm just 100% confused by anyone using electric for their water heater
gas water heaters are just so hammer-simple and nothing ever goes wrong with them, even if it means punching a flue through the roof and having a tank in the yard there's no way I wouldn't use one
added bonus is that then you have gas for a proper kitchen stove
