What's new

How hard is inflation going to hit, or has hit?

IIRC Iraq and Libya wanted gold instead of US paper for their oil, US didn't accept that version of commerce

Maybe, probably some sort of electronic currency allegedly backed by gold

The globalists crave a global currency that can be devalued, or even selectively turned off

That's cool, I didn't know that
Honestly it’s pretty awesome. Where do gas stations make the most money? From the shit in the store. When your selling the shit you make in your own store holy crap that’s a money making machine.

the town my dad lives in of 11,000 people there are 4 of them in a 1.5 mile circle. Everyone of them are busy 6am to 9pm. I’m really jealous of thier success.

Also the person who runs kiwk trips Twitter/Facebook/Instagram account is extremely funny.

They are a great store. Their hot food options are really good and it's amazing how many people do their grocery shopping there.

I've seen their construction schedule for the next couple years. To say their expansion plan is aggressive is an understatement.

I really thought it was something like germany
Germany asked for their gold back a couple years ago. The U.S. was kinda like "What gold? "

At the same time, several countries were
"repatriating" their gold

It became a point of contention, the U.S. was having a hard time providing it all, and didn't want ti talk about it much, and the countries wanting their shit, getting it back piecemeal didn't raise the flag, something better than nothing, also, didn't want the other countries to get wise and start demanding at the same time.

There's been a lot of quiet big moves in metals, and all the big boys are happy with current pricing to keep gathering

I have a ~$500k project that is just now getting underway. We bid in January. Cost of materials has gone up 83% since bid.

fortunately 60% is going through redesign to reduce cost, but this is still going to hurt.

Well looks like I should make a hf trip before the prices double there. I have some crusher wear parts on a container somewhere. I ordered them last dec I’m hoping to see them in a month. Hopefully they didn’t get whacked by this shipping increase :(.

I don’t think there is a foundry left in the country that can pour manganese steel.

Now the question is. How long will inflation last. An 8 times increase in shipping in one year is yuge.

Permanent shipping cost increase....

Sure be nice if we were still bringing back manufacturing to our country. :homer:

Who's that member that won't stfu about buying canned food? :homer:

Its not fucking rocket surgery.
A Indian grows maze by the river. He looks way out in the distance everyday at the mountains. He watches the snow pile up on them every winter, the more snow, the more water in his river the next summer, the more water, the more maze. This winter, there's hardly any snow.....

But we're too used to the civilized world to think anything bad might happen, and take some precautions

My wife is visiting family in Lake Elsinore, Ca. to be with our future granddaughter-in-law pick out her wedding dress. She went to the local super market (Stater Brothers) to get some food for a family dinner. 70/30 hamburger is $5.99/lb, chicken breasts are $3.99/lb, and carne asada is $9.99/lb. That's absolutely insane.

Last year reg cut on a deer at processor near camp was $80, this year $110

6% my ass

Just got another 12% increase announcement from Carrier, constant flow of letters from vendors announcing price increases all year, concrete, block, stone, steel etc etc etc.

Yea, I don't know where the .gov is getting their 6% figure from. Maybe power/water? Everything else is 20-60% or higher.

I can easily go drop $300 on groceries right now and use 1 buggy. Gas, lumber, steel, etc etc you name it- the price of virtually everything we buy has on average nearly doubled since 2019.

I think its from the same place all their other "facts" come from, Fucking La La Land.:jester:

Ya $300 groceries is no joke and full on truth here as well.

So much for the 30% raise I got in June.:mad3:

It wont last much longer I'm sure, But I've stopped bringing lunch to work some days because the Kroger near where I work still has a $5 lunch plate, and its good and real food(meat, beans etc). Try finding lunch out anywhere for $5 now that wont give you the beetus or diarrhea...

It's probably from the consumer "basket" of goods. Not other stuff like gas. It's a bullshit number anyway

And it's only going to get worse. Lace those boot laces up tight my friends. I'll be taking two or three deer and maybe a small wild hog or two this year. Process them myself.

I foresee next years garden being considerable bigger than in the past.

My goal as well. going to do my part to reduce the grocery bill.

Yea I'm watching for brisket to go on sale so I can throw a couple in the freezer and use in my deer burger meat.

Also, if things get as bad as we think they might... I won't be participating in "hunting season" or other good times game and fish commission rules. Let 80/20 burger hit $25/lb and see me in a ghillie suit with crossbow in May.

You damn skippy. Everything will be on the menu

I'm actually thinking about trying to can some of the meat.

Me? So I"m I wrong telling you to buy stuff for when things get bad or the fool for taking precautions

The only problem with your scenerio is the indian is only growing food for his immediate family and maybe village.
Farmers tend to be the great planners, they are always looking at trends what's going to happen 6 months, next year, 2 years from now. They are constantly watching the weather patterns, trying to guess if they are going to get the harvest in before rain makes the field to muddy, the moisture contint in the grain to high.... You ever wondered when you went in for a loan who would make one payment a year, farmers and ranchers, because they get one payday a year.
