How hard is inflation going to hit, or has hit?

Bring on the crash. Let this place fucking burn

That's what should happen.

Unfortunately, I think the current admin would pass a 97 trillion dollar bill and everyone on unemployment. We'll turn into Zimbabwe and a dozen eggs will be $87.

Stupidity and excessive spending should hurt.

Anyone hear anything about Wells Fargo shutting down home equity lines of credit? Iirc they did that a few months before the 08 crash
Not home equity, personal line of credit.

Home equity is backed with... equity. The value of your home.

Personal line of credit is an unsecured debt. Basically signature loans.

Im ready, just got 3 dozen more chickens.

A dozen eggs could cost a 1000$ .gov would just hand out vouchers for daily living needs to the dependents.

I hear people say things like that all the time. I suspect that if this system goes down in flames, what will follow it will sorely disappoint you. I highly doubt that out of the ashes there will be a rebirth of individual freedom and limited government.

Our best bet, I think, is to try to make this system work.

Fuck, that is a sad reality isn’t it. This one didn’t work, why wouldn’t we make it worse instead of better. More than 50% of the country would gladly make it worse as long as it’s equally worse for all of us.

If it gets bad enough we might come out of the ashes with those people making up far, far less than 50% of the country.

I bought one of those little 30" rear-engine riding mowers. $999 last year when I should have bought it. $1500 this year :shaking:.

Yeah yeah, I should have just bought a used POS for $200. Honestly, I wanted a tiny mower, not much local popped up.

That it took over two centuries to fully corrupt this system speaks volumes as to how inspired the original idea was. I think it's much too soon to give up on it.

Hard men make good times. Good times make soft men. Soft times make hard times. Hard times make hard men.

It need to crumble and be let to do so. Then the good hard men and women must fight like hell to rebuild it. The 50% that wants to let it continue on into full blown socialism will have a dramatic population reduction as they are mostly the can nots. They have very little real world skills that a computer is not necessary for. They dont have food. Dont grow food dont hunt/trap/fish for food. Exposure will kill more in the first year than anything else unless there is wide spread consistant violence.

Corruption implies it can be saved. This is not corrupt, this malfeasance or worse.

Whatever it is, I think people lack perspective. In the 1930s it seemed as if the free market system had failed and authoritarian systems were appearing all over the world. American progressives (when they weren't visiting Stalin's Soviet Union) were transforming the nation in ways that would make Obama and Bernie blush like little girls and FDR seemed like he might become a dictator for life, as the world was on the fast lane careening towards a world war.

As bad as things are now, this nation has weathered much worse.

Well i just went to pick up some outside skirt steak... $10/lb 3 months ago and $23/lb today
$7 a lb for 80% ground beef tonight.

And the shelves are starting to look bare. This weekend they ran out of creamer. THe entire fridge section was empty.

Has it though? The National debt load is a staggering overhead weight we’re holding up and it’s getting heavier by the minute. Afraid it’s going to come crashing down on top of us

There is an old saying "If you owe the bank $1000, you have a problem. If you owe the bank $1,000,0000,000, the bank has a problem".

It is quite clear that there is zero intention to pay the debt. My guess is that they plan on inflating the currency so that the debt becomes worthless. But we will pay dearly for that. At least those who saved our money.

Oh that’s gonna happen

it’s mathematically unsustainable to borrow 50% of the federal budget every year , every year, every year.

the fedgov will have to cut the budget 50% to balance it and cut it another 10% to have some leftover to start repaying the debt.

the dirt bags in Congress can’t even cut it 3%

and just imagine the riots when the section 8 and food stamps and all the free handouts start getting cut .

Everything seems normal around here. Hopefully people have pulled their heads out of their asses and turned off the tv.

Ground beef was $49.90 for 10, 1lbs. packages. Local farm that’s about an hour drive is $4.25 a pound for whole ground.

Shelves are fully stocked everywhere I go.

Fair point. One major difference is the control they now have on info structure and communication.
