Ok looking for another holographic/red dot sight for an AR .556. Had the older 512’s and they work fine but chew through batteries. Currently running an Eotech MRDS on my AR but want to put that onto a pistol so have been shopping for a new red dot. The meprolight M21 looks appealing as it is battery free and $150 less than a 512.

Anyone run one or have something else they like better for similar price?

Just a rockpit gun or something thats going to see a bunch of abuse?

I'd go the primary arms LPVO over the vortex stike eagle. I was not impressed with the one I had, or the several that friends have had. Sig's 1-6 is pretty good as well.
have you thought about a microprism instead of a holographic sight?

Open to all suggestions

Holographic’s tend to be limiting for sure regarding accuracy down range

What didn’t you like about the vortex? Everyone I know that has one of those speaks well of them.

Prefer a LPVO over just a dot.

Do they brag about the warranty?
Dont care if they brag about it as long as they honor it. I know one guy who dropped his rifle off a small cliff 40ish feet. Dented his vortex pretty good. No questions asked replacement.

I am heavily leaning towards a LPVO currently

Primary Arms SLx 1-6x24 SFP Rifle Scope Gen III - Illuminated ACSS Reticle - 5.56 / 5.45 / .308

I've said this before, but a 1-6x illuminated LVPO SFP scope is just about ideal for the 3-gun matches I shoot. Turn the illumination on stun and use it at 1x like a reddot, if you've got a distance shot turn off the illumination and dial that fucker to 6x, and you're BDC will be spot on. Under $300 bux, and I'm a gear slut, this is by far the cheapest optic I have.

I had the 1-6x didn't like the clarity, the reticule, eyebox wasn't as good as the primary arms.
I have a 1-4 viper that is much better.
Have had to send two vortex scopes in for warranty in the last few years. I don't feel like they are as good of a value as they once were.

This is a much better scope than the strike eagle;

For Around 300 the primary arms 1-6 is hard to beat.

I like vortex spitfires but they are prism not holographic. The etched reticle is there when power is off/dead battery.

Just picked up the PA SLx 1-10X28 2nd plane w/ the ACSS Raptor reticle for my Gen.3 LR308. Awesome reticle, extremely easy to use and basically red dot up to 300yds. and for the price the glass is very clear.

The PA micro prisms are great if you dont need magnification ( or, use the 3x if you do) Etched reticule is a plus and usable without batteries. Having an astigmatism, they are awesome, no more bloom. :smokin:

What mount did you go with? Going to buy tonight.

be sure and report back, I'm getting kinda tired of my aimpoint/magnifier setup
too many layers of glass getting fogged up in the humidity

Update: for some reason the w charge from them disappeared. I just fired of an email to them for the best way to get this moving. Will update as information come in.
