…my 05 hemi Daytona Ram with 290,xxx miles…not a bit of issues…

Stupid question...

So in the OLD days of racing, you could machine a second spark plug.
It was one of the beauty of a hemispherical combustion chamber design.
Do people still do that? And if not, why are they so proud of having a hemispherical combustion chamber???

My fathers 06' Hemi Ram has two plugs.

Just going through my to do list… still haven’t bought a truck and could have definitely used one since I started this thread 😆

Still looking at Power Wagons for the ride quality. How’s everyone’s Dodges holding up 😂

2010 1500, 5.7L, 215k. Still runs. Less rust than expected when I crawled under it a few weeks ago. Water pump and electric fan conversion a bit over a year ago, fuel pump 2 months ago, and a power steering pump 2 weeks ago. Needed a cam solenoid and cruise control switch when I bought it 4 years ago. The new switch started not always registering the on button a few months ago. Probably needs a new ac compressor. A few minor things here and there. It might have started burning oil faster than it used to. Not sure yet. Biggest headache now is the a ticking noise. Not sure if a small exhaust leak or just hemi doing hemi things.

Still kicking. I had to put a thermostat in it recently. 189k and runs great. I'm looking at swapping a used rear axle to re gear it to 4.10 to increase towing capacity. The gears and install kit for the 10.5aam are stupid expensive.

East Coast Gear Supply

Bought genuine AAM gears through them for a GMC, I thought they were reasonable?

The 4.10's are almost $500 for the Ring and Pinion. I looked around today and found some for $400 which is way less than I could find them for a year or so ago when I was looking. I might rethink the used axle route. I was finding used axles for less than the ring and pinion.

I guess I misread… what gears do you have currently? I figured you had 4.10s and wanted to go lower for towing? I love my 4.10s in my V10, figured the hemi equivalent would be 4.56 considering the higher power band.

I currently have 3.73's. With the 545 transmission, tow mode turns off one OD. It wont pull what I tow in 4th gear and wants to run in 3rd most of the time. 4.10s should let it run in 4th.

I looked at this one in person over a month ago. It’s got 55k miles on it. The console lid is split/fucked and you can see the seat is also split.

How the hell does that happen on a truck that is about two years old?!

Good news is the prices are coming down on these shitboxes. This converts to aBoot $39k bald eagles

Yup. Fat people sliding in and out of a vehicle, particularly a tall vehicle, ruin seats, armrests, door panels and even steering columns. I can't remember how many times I have been asked to quote seat cushions and covers for a used vehicle. I've done it twice in the last two weeks, and that was for furds.

Yep, that's more from getting out than getting in. Swing legs out, slide big American diet ass down off the edge of the seat.

It can also be repetitions. I am 5 foot 10 195 pounds and low body fat percentage, I pick myself up and swinging in and out a bunch but the edge of a lot of my seats are hurt. I drive about 1.2 miles about 10 times a day to and from the parts stores And what not. I also normally have pliers in my back pocket (not hanging out so no steel contact)

Are those leather seats? The ad says Tradesman, which wouldn't have leather. Maybe they were swapped from a higher mileage truck?

Have a 2017 with the 6.4L. 22,000 miles, around 12,000 hours.
Sounds like typewriter when first fired up. Has needed 3 heater cores, ignition coils, 3 power steering hoses (blow apart when cold), drivers door fell off a couple weeks ago, about chopped my bosses feet off. Hinges failed, cracked through.
Would need a windshield, it's getting a white haze from it delaminating.

Otherwise been a decent truck.

Correct, short people are tough on seats :flipoff2:

Oh, forgot seat is coming apart. My 2008 did the same, ended spending the $$ and put a new foam and cover after hitting a bump and slamming my ass bone directly in the exposed steel frame.
That hurt for weeks.

22k MILES?! And all those issues or 220k Miles?

22k and that thing sounds like a piece of fucking hot dog shit but excessive idling and not doing maintenance sounds about par for the course.

This issue fails a safety here. Would require new foam and cover to pass either a private safety or an annual if it’s a fleet truck. I’ve bashed my ass cheeks on them and it’s not a good time

My dad has an ‘05 2500 hemi with about 125k on it. Other than weird electrical gremlins, front hubs and axle joints, exhaust manifold leaks and already needing a transmission it’s been great. :homer:
It was a little sketchy right before we went under the RR tracks, but overall it was a fine parade.-Jackie Kennedy

12k hours is like 400k miles

My pick up has 11,000 hours and 305,000 miles. 14,000 hours is an awful lot of use.
