So I have an HF pipe threader I have used mostly for air piping.

The 3/4 die SUCKED and would ruin every pipe they touched, even store purchased pre-threaded pieces.

At the old place I 'thought' I remembered reading that the rigid threader dies were interchangeable with the HF dies.

It ain't so.

So... rather than torture myself with trying to search the old place for whatever it was I misunderstood, can anyone here give me a clue?

Is it the manual threader die holder that is interchangeable, not the individual dies?

The other option is to buy another one and see if it is any better...

Thoughts?

Is it Pittsburgh brand? Can you try and swap it out for a different one?

Are you sure it's the dies and not the cast abomination they're mounted int?

I can tell you that these heads aren't going to be interchangeable.

The Rigid 12R and the 11R are different. The 11R have the 4 'bosses' that locate them in the die holder in the drive. the 12R are the Ridgid one you show on top for the ratching threader, not the electically driven one.
I only knew about the 12r until now, the product views for the 11r have one picture of the 11r the rest are 12r:shaking:

I'll try to dig through some threading stuff at work tomorrow and see if there is any 11r to get a measurement.

I am too redneck to be able to make effective use of measurements... ;)

If you can get to a harbor freight and tell me if the 3/4 die head fits into this:

I am now convinced that is what was being shared at the old place and there is no way to make the dies fit into the die head.

Thanks for the offer even if you can't get to HF.

I just ordered the 3/4 head (37115) so I will know by next weekend...

That was probably me, the 11-R die heads do work with this threader. I haven't tried changing the dies in the HF heads, much easier spending an extra $50 when it's someone else's money (work dollars)!
