Rear axle on the 300. Anybody run into this before?

Is that a crack or just the pitting?

run into pitting on older bikes, but a little sanding (some Emory cloth and lube) and some high temp grease keeps it going. Make sure the bearings are free. They can lock up too.

They are cracks. Bearings are free.

Wow. Yeah cant say I've ever seen a cracked axle before. It's probably not going to do anything sketchy in the next few rides but a replacement is probably worth the money

Factory axle? What year is the bike?

That has to be some kind of manufacturing defect, those cracks running in that direction make zero sense...

Most likely material defect. I wonder if they were made from tube or bar stock.

I have broke a lot of random stuff. But that was a new one for me
