I'm having a real hard time sourcing a correct replacement for this Yanmar L70 diesel I'm working on, maybe someone can help me figure out what I'm missing. Its on an Allmand GR series light tower. It starts and runs but the regulator isn't sending power so the computer keeps shutting it off after 10 seconds because its not recieving a power signal.

I'm not having any luck coming up with a regulator that has the same amount of / correct wires. Manual shows it as a part # RS5112 but it doesn't turn up any results and the diagram itself shows 5 vs 7 wires I've got. Any suggestions on a replacement?

Allmand had a thingy on their site that you could put in the serial #, info etc and I messaged them that I was looking for a 7 wire regulator. They told me its a Yanmar part # 114399-77550 which looks like

Now I'm even more confused cause while similar thats not 7 wires like mine

Rather than spend $200 on a genuine yanmar one or $30 on a shipped from china unit that'll take forever to show up how terrible an idea is it to put a $20 scamazon unit in its place? I'm ASSuming one of the wires on my current unit is just doubled up to send power to the computer?

My suggestion was going to be to check continuity on the pairs of red/white and green/white wires and see if they're bonded inside the box. Having the same colors would kind of suggest that they are.

That looks like a normal Honda etc v twin regulator.

Is this supposed to be for the generator section of the unit or the "alternator" section of the engine?

Is the fault for no generator output or no DC battery charge output?
