look header shield.

10000% better than wrap

do you have a link, i tried on this computer and it was blocked. silly work firewall blocker. and on the phone is said invalid.

I have a question about heat shielding in general which ties into this. My steering box is basically up against my exhaust manifold on my 3.4 Tacoma, which leads to the box getting heat soaked and degrading steering performance. The factory manifolds I can't really wrap due to their design. Can I slap some of this shit on the steering box, and would it have a similar sheilding effect as if I wrapped the manifold?

how much room do you have between, i mean can you get some thin sheet metal and make an heat shield like we had to for old small block chevys for the starter. sounds fucking crazy but if you could get tin and a piece of plywood between you may have winner. but sounds like your out of room

I have a license plate in there as an extension of the fender, but it's still heat soaking it

i was checking out some amazon heat shielding and there in one that is sold in a blanket form that you fold in half over the entire manafld not near as good as the stuff Bebop linked but might work

I'm having trouble picituring this (building a 3.4L powered '99 4Runner myself) unless you are calling the orbital for full hydro the steering box? I planned to mount mine on the firewall....but think it will be awfully close to the manifold. Is that what you're having problems with too?

I narrowed the front frame rails and have an f250 forward swing steering box in there. The issue is the box gets hot as fawk from the exhaust, and even with a massive steering cooler that is burning hot the touch in free air flow, my steering overheats on the trail.

Ah....gotcha. Thanks for the explanation. I've been looking at those forward swing Ford boxes for my tow rig project.....but haven't actually used one. Got a PSC ported one from a Scout IIRC that I originally planned to use on the 4Runner, but ended up saying fuck it and going full hydro.
