There Might Be A Shortage Of Chicken Wings On Super Bowl Sunday

If you plan on having chicken wings at your Super Bowl LV party, you should probably plan ahead.

The Georgia Poultry Federation suggests there may be a shortage on chicken wings during Super Bowl Sunday (February 7) amid an increased demand during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, 41 NBC reports.

The GPF said there was an increased demand for chicken wings as they are an easy food for restaurants to deliver amid restrictions, which could impact Super Bowl viewers, who are expected to consume an estimated 1.4 billion chicken wings during the big game. Georgia Poultry Federation President Mike Giles told 41 NBC that the versatility of chicken wings makes them the perfect Super Bowl party food, which leads to an even greater demand on Super Bowl Sunday.

“There’s so many different types of sauces that you can add to them, or you can eat them without a sauce. So it’s just a food that lends itself well to snacking on a day like a Super Bowl,” Giles said.

Giles suggests calling your favorite restaurant ahead of time if you plan on ordering takeout chicken wings for Super Bowl LV, or buy them at the grocery store and make them on your own.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will become the first NFL team to play in a Super Bowl hosted in their home stadium Sunday when they take on the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers, 31-20, in last year's Super Bowl.

Puppy bowl, YES. Fooze bowl, NO. Plenty of chicken wings in the freezer.

"Guys is this is serious now!"

Slow down! :flipoff2:

I already bought some and they are in the freezer waiting for this weekend. :smokin:

Fuck the Superbowl. I stopped watching that shit years ago.

I'll be destroying my snowmobile in the powder in one of the best spots in the country:flipoff2:

Stopped at Target, Best Buy and Academy Sports yesterday...

All had empty shelves... Academy only had ~12 dozen boxes of strange caliper ammo TOTAL. No arrows or bolts... etc. BBY and Target both had empty electronics shelves.

Welcome to the new normal... Soon, common items will be considered a delicacy afforded only to those in the front of the train.

If yall don't care about the NFL/Super Bowl then stay that F out of the thread!:flipoff2:

You have a stroke?

I hate the NFL so much I bought 6 straight-trucks of chicken wings and they're all in my alley. It'll be a shitty Superbowl around here but 4th of July is going to be giggity.

nope... just observations... Chicken wings are not going to be the only thing short of supply... We'll see more of these announcements in the future.

I'm less worried about the wings. :lmao:

Nice reference. I wonder if we're experiencing a shift to online ordering for everything. My local grocery store does online order and curbside pickup as most of their business now. If you walk in, they're not stocking a lot of things on the shelves but you can still order it online and pick it up in a few hours.

If this were one of my hippy college courses back in the day, they would be making the case that the knowledge and access for online shopping was indeed limiting common items to those who are in the front of the train because poors don't have good internet, can't afford computers, and don't know how to operate one. Of course that was back in 1998-99, and I think even the poors are buying things on the internet now.

It'll be interesting to me to see if it sticks. Is there going to be a whole new class of people that works from home, shops from home, watches the latest movies from home, and never leaves their house?

Will they get weird and introverted and shit?

Will the be afraid of germs forever?

What will happen to the toilet paper?

I was in the grocery store a couple days ago and they had entire freezers full of 5 pound bags of frozen wings on sale.

said it before and I'll say it again... we are subjects in the largest social experiment in ~80 years...

People still watch that garbage? I can think of a million other things to do besides spend 4 hours watching guys play with a child’s toy.

It certainly feels that way... What was your theory on why again?

control... transformation... slight of hand

Government protects only one entity: government. The oath of office is dead, COTUS is shredded. ALL governments have and always will seek more power. And now, thanks to the reactions they implemented from Covid, a vast majority of the citizens will question the integrity of their neighbor before they'd question the motivation of the crown.

History is important...

Got plenty of wings to smoke for our non super bowl, super bowl party. I'm betting lowest watch numbers ever. I could give two shits about the kneeling BS. Until they put butts back in the seats they can piss off. Football is all about the fan experience.

And large corporations not stocking Chicken Wings? You have to tie that back in or we're not relevant on the thread.
