Anyone know of a good spot to put a trailer? Full hookups would be best, but could probably make dues with power and water.

I'm working in fresh Pond and thinking about borrowing my sister in laws trailer to stay in. I'd like a spot that would be ok for the family to come stay with me also.

Koa is $100/night

As far as hookups, for me it's what to do when the shitter gets full that has been my biggest concern when boondocking. Living off a generator and/or batteries and inverter for power, and bringing water in by 5 gallon totes, really ain't that bad when you're being conscious of your useage. The doo-doo though, thats not as easy to deal with.

Yeah it's not a big deal to deal with all that stuff when you're out camping for fun but it's a little bit of a different story when you're working 12 to 14-hour days and the last thing you want to do is find a place to get 5 gallon buckets of water so you can take a cold shower

I have a 30ish gallon portable septic tank on wheels with a handle if you want it. When it's just you you could haul your shit out every couple days and dump it somewhere along the way or in the shitter at work without having to take the trailer.

Another thought may be parking the trailer on the job site and convincing the general to pay you minimum wage to be 24hr security. I have a few friends that work on road crews that do that.

Edit: who had the cabin by the con for sale on pirate? looked like it just sat empty, maybe you could rent it for super cheap.

30 gal of shit on wheels, think of the prank possibilitys!

The site is basically 1.5 lanes and 250 yards long. It's on 50, in fresh Pond (across the street from the chevron) There is absolutely no room for even what we need, much less a 40' trailer. Although that would be sweet.

The folks that pump our portable shitters will pump your tanks on a schedule...probably no more than $30 a visit.

From inside? RV black tank is pretty different than blue water in porta-shitters.

Can they catch it from the drain?

While building my house, we stayed in our fifth wheel. Guy would come and pump the porta potty and had an adapter that hooked right up to the trailer drain, so he’d charge an extra $20-30 to drain our trailer.

Open the valves and make sure someone holds the toilet open. The pump could literally collapse the tank in with the suction pressure if the vent wasn’t sufficient.

Good to know.

Honestly, I don't think I would even need to drain the black tank. I could pee out side, or in the shower, and time my shits at work.

Not having power might suck though, it's starting to get pretty cold up there and running the generator all night for a little heat would not be ideal.

Btw, were on the way to get the trailer and take it to the Koa. $90/night :homer: they have a monthly setup, buts separate, online only reservations and I didn't think it would be able to be set up short notice. Also, I'm not sure I want to commit to a month there yet. I figured I'd take the hit for a few days and possibly be able to find a better spot.

Theres got to be an air b&b or shithole hotel within 30 minutes cheaper then that

Doesn't the Chevron have spots for rent. There's always trailers parked on the hill above it.

I worked the "honey" wagon when I was 16. We would do both the porta shitters and RVs. Pretty basic, just take the stinger off for the porta shitters and put the adapter on for black water tanks. It's just a big suction hose with a cam lock ends so switching adapters is pretty easy. Just don't work with your mouth open.:homer:

The one right in fresh Pond?

I'm not sure, it looks there used to be a diner there. Big open lot? Would be nice to just walk across the street to work  but probably suck for everything else.

I feel like there is (or was?) an RV park in Pollock Pines. Ghost Mountain, or something similar.

I found it on Google, but no one picked up on Sunday. I kinda had to get it down here today, but moving it 15 mins away after work is no big deal.

$90 a night? Better have a dump station for that fkg price...

Full hookups

But Jesus christ do they pack them in here. The little picnic table they give you is closer to the next trailer than your own. I was telling the wife that all these idiots go home and tell people they went camping

:lmao:

Yeah the Chevron at Fresh Pond. I know I've seen trailers on the hill behind the gas station.

I just looked this morning and yes, you're right, there was one or 2.

I'm a little hesitant since I might be pulling out early Jan and I'm worried we might actually get snow. Which could potentially make for a pain in the ass time.

I'm definitely going to check with the fair grounds. I don't know why none of this comes up on Google.

Running a generator for 4-8hrs a night isnt that big if a deal. 10's of thousands of truck drivers do it every night.

Some of y'all need to toughen up :flipoff2: acting like ya can't live without running water or 120v electricity on a daily basis :D
