If you buy one is the ATF gonna burn your shit to the ground like Waco?

How would they know if you have one?

It is perfectly legal to manufacture your own firearm for personal use.

Because the ATF is having the payment processors turn over purchase records, payment processors are doing it without requesting a warranty. ATF has been showing up at sellers and buyer's homes asking for them to be turned over and threatening people who ask for a warrant.

you think they had ghost guns at Waco..? it's not like they were trying to get the weapons past security checks.. so they wouldn't need them, right?

This is straight from the ATF website. https://www.atf.gov/firearms/qa/are-...eivers-illegal

If they are going after dumbasses, than so be it. Don't be a dumbass.

Also, I've only seen a few reports online of the ATF going after people. That does not incite mass pandemonium.

ATF has shown up at polymer 80 a few times just to swing their dicks but nothing happened. That’s the first I’ve heard of them showing up at someone’s house. In my opinion It’s always a good Idea to buy shit like this through a 3rd party site with big sales volume like brownells

The stupid part is, it's not the "ghost guns" they really need to worry about. Anyone with half a brain can blow the side out of a building better than Tim McVeigh.

I do not condone and am a half wit so myself am unable to do any such thing.

No, not saying they had ghost guns. Just how ATF came in and fucked their shit up.

You all should read Calif regs ( both current and blocked/pending)!

I’ve got a complete p80 g17 kit untouched. $1000 usps mo No paper trail :flipoff2:

My problem with ghost guns is the parts end up being more than the gun. Maybe kits have just gone up like all the other gun stuff

I'd love to do a 10/22 but I can buy a new one for $300 and by the time I get a stock and barrel I'm close to that. If I'm wrong I'd love the links, I can figure out the receiver just need everything else.

Now, it used to be different, errr or so I've ben teld.:flipoff2:

Been buying 80%ers since the mid-2000s. No ATF incursions yet.

Recently bought a polymer80 frame specifically because of the ATF’s actions.

they havent come for over 20 years, and I passed the background check to work for the gov, but I'm sure they havent forgotten where I live..

I will be happy if they only knock real hard.. instead of coming in through windows, etc..

Shit, I spent $300 on the stock. KRG bravo, added l.o.p. adjustment, green mountain .920 barrel, volquartzen trigger. I thought I built a cheap one...

I did an 80% many years ago. Went in with a few other people when they had a deal on 10 lowers and a jig set. Honestly it was a pain in the ass and made a huge mess. Milling the trigger pocket out with an end mill bit on a router sent AL shavings everygoddamnwhere and I was not happy with the results. I ran a few mags through it and worked flawless but I ended up transferring mine to one of the other guys.

Lowers are cheap to begin with so you dont really save much money and its not as easy to do correctly and takes longer to do than they make it seem. Now that you have to get a serial engraved too, its not worth it anymore

I'm outa the loop now adays.. is this for all "guns" across the board????

edit: maybe it was always like that, and I just didnt pay enuff attention to the laws :)

double edit.. the law of 68 or newer.. argh.. I dont remember this.. but its obviously true..

Well its for sure a CA thing, not sure about federal or other states, but you have to get a serial engraved on the lower. You have to apply to DOJ for a serial, provide photos and they issue a serial # to get engraved. Same with the handguns, they need serial # but the polymer ones must have an engraved metal slab. Last I checked, having an unserialed rifle is a misdemeanor in CA but dont quote me on that.

Not worth the hassle.

Dunno about crazy cali. BUT, elsewhere, no law requires serializing, even for homebuilt transfer. However, I would anticipate it to be pretty hard to find an FFL that will do a transfer bgc on an unserialized firearm. No reason you couldnt just pick up a set of harbor freight number stamps and serialize yourself.

I you are doing an 80% to save money, or thinking you will end up with a factory finish high value collector's item, you are doing it wrong.

part of it does include this..

There’s another possible scenario in which there is no serial number, and that is in the case of a home build. As of late, there has been a 80% or 60% receiver complete craze. In these particular cases, the gun cannot be sold or transferred and must only be for the manufacturer’s own personal use. If it is a home build manufactured by yourself, using your own equipment, for your own personal use, no serial number is required.

Although not required, BATFE has stated: “ . . . we suggest that the manufacturer at least identify the firearm with a serial number as a safeguard in the event that the firearm is lost or stolen. Also, the firearm should be identified as required in 27CFR478.92 if it is sold or otherwise lawfully transferred in the future.” http://www.atf.gov/firearms/faq/fire...echnology.html Again, this is simply a suggestion and not a legal requirement.

My brother has made a few 80% lower AR and I made one myself for myself and he put serial #'s on all of them to ID them incase they are stolen and has photos and everything of that. Along with a few rounds he had fired into a water tank to keep bullet intack just incase someone steals the gun he can give the cops the ID and a fired bullet from them for them to ID the gun easier and prove he didn't do it and his gun was stolen and used.
