Ghetto fab / Hack fab

Local fb marketplace. Dudes selling his "mega truck" with " 1/4 elliptical " rear suspension... Gets worse the more you look.

Yikes.
A poo pipe with a couple tractor joints welded in would take that link suspension up a notch.

Posted this in the trailer section and got mixed responses. :homer:

This is on a 2017 PJ power tilt 14k that probably cost $14k+ seems pretty hack to me.

Looks like an easy way to add a little flex to me. They probably had trouble with welds cracking so they added a buffer.
That's an interesting thought. Although that short of a span of pig iron isn't going to flex much, probably just bend.

It just dawned on me why they did it. Trailer is steel deck. So they have to bump the crossmembers up to meet the steel vs a 1 1/2" thick piece of wood, those take up the space. :homer:

Looks like a fun way to permanently disable or possibly kill yourself. :smokin:

Be sure to video it!

Exactly.

Also looks like you'd be better off getting ejected from it, rather than staying in. Recommend full motocross gear and remove any seat belts.

Interesting axle on a market place trailer

That quality of design is par from the course for homemade trailers using parts from that era.

All the perfectly fixable trucks that were cut up to make trailers make much more sense when you consider that this is what that generation built when building from scratch.

Market place find. This one kinda looks fun..
Says its a xj engine and axles.
