Recently got into a fender bender. Looks like I will be getting the blame for accident. Never really been in this situation before.
My insurance rates will no doubt go up because I am being found at fault.
Cop that covered accident issued me a ticket.
Will the ticket count cause my insurance to go up as additionally? Or will it just be one "hit" seeing as how I am apparently getting the blame?
Trying to decide if I should go through the cost and effort to contest the ticket.

You were found at fault through the issuance of your ticket. Unless you have overwhelming evidence to prove otherwise, contesting the ticket will be moot. Talk to your insurance company. Some offer accident forgiveness....

Depends. I get one free claim every 10 years without losing any of my discounts with State farm.

Yup, I had some dumb bitch brake check me. My insurance went from 900 for 2 vehicles to 1400 for one. I want to go kick that bitch in the tnuc.

The insurance will pay claim to other driver.
You will get dinged....or dropped. Like my insurance did to me. Only accident I had.
Low speed bumper to bumper cause floor Matt got caught on top accerator and when I braked my accerator went down. :homer:

I've said it before and I've said it again, the system is not designed to be fair or reasonable. It is designed to extract money under false pretense of fairness. There's no fucking point trying to work with them and jump through hoops. Just find a different way to win at their expense.

In MA the accident report form the police give out to both parties has both people's names and addresses. :smokin:

Mine jumped $500 a year when person in front of me got brake checked and I hit them. No cop so no report but I claimed fault for it. No damage to my truck and minor damage to there's. Commercial policy.

I wouldn't fight the ticket. That is a fool's errand. The officers report/citation is considered factual unless you have overwhelming proof that his write-up is incorrect and you will have to get a judge to believe that.

Is this merely a bumper scuffing or was it worse? Airbags, broken glass, fluid leaks, etc? The biggest scam is if the other party claims injury after the fact if they are not happy with the settlement of making their car whole again.

Do you actually know your agent or is it faceless (yes, I know mine). You can always bounce to another outfit if you don't like the terms.

Insurance companies are not in business to payout on claims as has been said.

Always fight the ticket. Because, fuck'em, that's why. But seriously, In more populated areas, the odds of them no showing go up dramatically. Even if they show, a large portion of the time you can get it reduced. Even though it costs more in time lost to fight them, I like to think that while I have them tied up in court they aren't out assfucking someone else.

LMAO you guys complaining about insurance going up when you're in an accident....I complain about my insurance going up 25% of no fault of my own because other people in my area got into more accidents and had more vehicles stolen. We are not the same.

That's why half my fleet doesn't have insurance

"But what if I get into an accident?!?!"

Easy, kill the witnesses and burn both vehicles :flipoff2:

I had a tree fall on my house and wanted to document it because it hit my brand new heat pump
Instuance guy wanted to make a claim (I was just going to clean it up) I told him no because I didn't want my insurance reates
How did driving like a jackass and tailgating work out for him?
apparently the guy caused an accident over hurt feelers

Dash cam. Maybe it would show you riding ass? Brake checks generally wont. cause wrecks if you’re not too close🤷‍♂️

Not sure how much trouble I would get in to, but I so bad want a truck with a dumb ranch hand bumper on the front. And when people do really dumb things, I just don’t want to slow down and keep driving. And it won’t hurt my truck and I won’t care about them. And just say sorry if I am ever caught and say I didn’t feel it so I didn’t know.

I just plan on driving off and if they do come knocking me say nothing, admit nothing, etc, etc. Everything I drive gets parked literally bumper to bumper with other shit I drive and against trees and concrete so it's not like you can just look at things and say "oh this was in an accident recently".

If it does come down to court just tell my lawyer I drove off because the other party was acting aggressive and I didn't feel like getting put in a position where ventilating them was likely.

For the amount of money involved it seems like a fair gamble. A low chance of a couple grand of court and lawyer bullshit plus your rate going up to the tune of thousands over the years vs a guarantee of your rate going up to the tune of thousands over the years.

I may leave out the ventilation part and say I was in fear for my life. And being a farm truck, no one would think twice about some scratches.

I probably wouldn't use those words. But all words are theoretically on the table. Depends on the situation.

My car has that collision avoidance braking deal, it didn't even activate I was going so slow. I still had my foot on the brake. Did zero damage to my car, but apparently a broken tail light on a 2000 jetta is worth 1500$.

That reminds me, I recently found out that an accident I supposedly wasn't at fault for (have the paperwork to prove it, somewhere) in 2019 is recorded in the insurance database as my fault. I really wanna dig up the paperwork and torch that bitch's house (because home insurance deductibles are typically way higher than auto ones so she'll be out more money and it's a bigger hassle too) 5yr later she's probably pissed off plenty of other people who they'll look at first.

Actually what I really wanna do is brutally murder some people who are in the pocket of the insurance industry (politicians, bureaucrats, lobbyists, i.e. the usual scumbags) but that's a far less realistic goal and I'd rather society not go so far to shit that it becomes achievable.

Ive been super lucky. 4 years ago got an OWI and 2 years ago my wife hit another car (it wasnt her fault) and no rate increase.

A lot of variables on the ticket, if it is Following too Closely most companies will count it as part of the accident and no big deal. If you get a Careless & Imprudent or similar that carries more weight than just rating for the accident. Some companies offer Accident Forgiveness under a certain limit for the accident but not the ticket.

If you are concerned what the event will cost a lot on your insurance and it may force you to shop for a better premium it would be best to get the ticket cleared so it is less complicated. Talk to your agent for advice since all this information varies by state and insurance company.
