The title. Garth brooks may have turned country pop and mainstream, but I never really noticed rap in his lyrics. If his new stuff is all him being a rapist, no reason to listen to it.
 
In 1988 he came to a exotic animal auction I was at, very down to earth type. Worked handling stock from pens to ring, was still there at 3am when sale ended.
 
Wife went to see him in probably 96 or so. She had seats near the very top of the arena. Very shitty.

Someone from Garth's team was walking around there for some reason (can't remember) and started chatting with the wife, her sister and a friend. Crew member moved them to front row slightly off center. Pre cell days or she woulda called me screaming like a 12 year old.

During the show, Garth reached down and shook her hand.

Wife swore she wasn't gonna wash that hand for a month!



He was here about 4 years ago and apparently likes to get out into the town during the day. My area high school was having football practice and he was driving by and stopped and met the team, threw the ball around, chatted with the coaches, etc. Of course, kids were sending their parents pics so then they all started showing up. Apparently he hung out there for about 2 hours throwing the ball, signing shit, shaking hands, etc.

He fell out of my favor for his awwww shucks country singer act and then led the used CD shit with the trade-in programs cause it was losing him money (if any of you remember that). He recovered more than Lars did with his Napster outrage.

The bio on him is pretty neat. One summer he realized his kids were growing up with the nanny and not him. He clears his schedule, wakes them up and takes them to a big creek on his property and says.. we are building a bridge, just us this summer. Every day all summer he built a bridge with his kids. Instead of ordering it done.. family summer project. I thought that was pretty cool.
 
My dad almost F350’d Garth at a horse show in Oklahoma City in the late 90’s when he stepped out from a row of horse trailers without paying attention. Dad honked angrily, Garth waved apologetically. Mom said “that was Garth Brooks.” Dad said “No it wasn’t. Shit, maybe it was.”

I don’t know. This could all just be a smoke screen to cover that up I guess. Even worse than that possibility, I cant say for sure if he’s the country music anti christ that paved the way for the degenerate drek that is turned out on mainstream radio today.

Either way, this is a good song.
