I need new Gaiters for hunting.
Items of importance, in order of importance;
1-Water resistance/waterproofness
2- Quiet. Brushed face, or something that doesn't go ZWICKZWICKZWICK as I'm tryin' to get my sneak on.
3- longevity. Last set are falling apart after 3 years of use. They were cheap from capital Iron though.

Who likes what, and why?

I like my KUIU ones, and they are well regarded as near the top in terms of quality and performance. There’s one other brand that people consider pretty much the same, can’t remember it off the top of my head. Maybe Kenetrek?

I posted on rokslide and the concensus was kuiu. Or outdoor research, but sounds like the new ones are junk now. Huntingbc also voted kuiu. Guess I'll try the Yukons!

They will go nicely with my first lite jacket and sitka pants:laughing:

Outdoor Research. One of the originals and still among the best you can buy.

According to most of the guys who have bought a pair in the last couple years, that's no longer the case.

That's interesting to hear. Mine are probably 5-6 years old and are great. They still have a no questions asked lifetime warranty so I would be curious to hear what changed.

Stitching letting go, buckles failing. Apparently the foot strap buckle is cheap crap now. Internet hearsay of course, so maybe not.

That sucks to hear about outdoor research. Mine are probably 10 years old.

Ive been eyeing kenetrec boots, I see they offer gaiters too. Might be worth a try.

I checked their site, the OG Crocodile gaiters look unchanged. But they also offer a few new cheaper models with cheaper straps so I could see those not being of the same quality.

From what I’ve heard the Outdoor Research gaiters are decent quality, but the shell material is very loud, making it not well suited to hunting.

I been looking around as these are on my list of items to get and found these, no opinion if they are any good or not.

I have a pair of Kenetrek and they're close to the old school OR gaiters. They are on clearance for $40 right now. That's a solid deal.

No issues with my Black Diamond Apex over the past 5 yrs. Pups especially like them cuz they smell like elk and doe urine :grinpimp:
Had a pair of Holubar canvas gaiter but they finally died after 30 yrs of use.
