What's new

Future of KOH 4400 chassis/car development?

Based on years past, the EV would start after the last Stock class entry. So qualifying wouldn’t be beneficial other than as a testing ground.
The announcers made the same comment, but said he was still wanting to do it.

Cutting edge for a future Mega Truck class…

I know that guy!!! Ran into him on the rubicon years ago. He is a DIEHARD ridgeline fan. You would think he was talking about Jesus when he talks about Honda ridgelines

The only interesting things I noted today were...
Wolf Racing added a rear spoiler/wing that seem to add stability while jumping off backdoor.
Slawson did some bumper testing and then humped a dumbass in a sxs to assert his dominance during qualifying.

They said yesterday he was going to qualify, but I didn't hear anything after that.
They are friends. They are having a software issue with reverse so opted out of qualifying. Working with AEM to get it sorted. They are shooting for 1 lap.

So watching the slow mo of the CanAm down backdoor was cool but it almost seems the travel was breaking the traction patch as it cycled? Hard to tell even in slow-mo. But it all seems to be working well regardless. Pretty beefy front bulkhead area given those hits.

I was waiting for the front "unit bearings" to go....But they didn't.

That slo-mo needs to be a can-am commercial during the superbowl. No sound for the whole commercial, just the slo-mo, then the logo on a black screen at the end.

Supposed quote from Dave at CT about what was done to that Maverick R "stock upper arms, stock knuckles, stock chassis, stock trailing arms with CT weld on trailing arm gusset, CT radius rods, CT lower A arms, chassis bracing and cage. The closest to stock we've ever sent to Hammers"

Canned Ham should be knocking on your door. :smokin:

I’d say Horschel’s FIS 4WS car is pushing the envelope. I know it broke, not sure what.

Agreed on Paul’s FIS 4WS pushing the envelope. I didn’t mention it since it debuted at KOH 2023 and raced a few races during the year. So I didn’t consider it new for this year.

That is exactly what was done to it.
Add seats/harnesses and kill switch.

Broke a tie rod, shit happens.
I'd say that's probably the most envelope pushing car there for sure.
IMO it's just too heavy/bulky/complex. Kinda like the Lasernut IFS/IRS.

Did Horschel run the rear steer car at Montana, or one of his other cars? Seems like he's had some significant new car blues.

Not last year that I recall, he's ran a few of the Sturgis races but had other issue.

The 42's are sorta hard to run, hard on everything.

Pretty cool though, you bet they’d get one on the podium and they certainly did. That thing did 170 miles. For the couch jockeys that have never put tires on those rocks, the camera does all of it no justice. The shit that thing just did on 35’s is CRAZY.

I know we’re taking the easy way on some of the trails now but some of the trails there is no easy way.

I’m still thinking a little mini UFO built for 37’s could be the move, bridge the gap between the spindly little SXS and the brute simplicity of the U4 car. Some hotrod turbo 4 cyl, auto trans, SCS t-case, no more than 80 inches wide to the outside of the tires. Hit the 3000 pound min limit and real 37’s.

I like the way you think on the mini-UFO.
