So what is your set up for fixing the rig, or is that what you are asking for?

I’m not asking for anything, I’m simply sharing my journey, and would like to meet folks along the way. I’m sure I will in fact need some help along the way and hope to meet some cool folks in the places I’m wheeling and would gladly pay them for their time and use of their shop and supply beer, food and laughs. The off road community is some of the best folks I’ve ever met, from all over.

But I have underbody boxes I’m putting on the truck this week, and one that will go on top of my auxiliary tank. I’ll have pretty much all of my tools with me, including a generator and welder. Anything bigger than I can handle I would ask for help (but not here obviously) or simply pay a shop in whatever area I’m in.

To be clear, I am by no means asking for any type of hand out, free place to stay, free repair work, or anything of that sort.

You've been to Green Acres and Uwaharrie scares you. Or did I miss the sarcasm?

Sarcasm. I live 45 minutes from there but never go. Nothing fun there and too many retards.

I tend to run with the rev limiter beat down, poor choices and good laughs crowd.

Here’s a few shots of some poor decisions being made. The blue one on Waterfall in Harlan is what I just sold.

I haven’t been to Green Acres but plan to while I’m on this journey. Got a good friend in Florida and some others that say it’s incredible. I want to hit RMR while I’m the area too, a little up in the air about Disney.

Green Acres delivers for sure. Never done RMR but I know it is extra hardcore, just getting to it brings the suck. Two ways in, both shitty gravel, one about 12 miles, the other 8 miles. I don't need to do Disney. It doesn't even look enjoyable, just meh.

I tend to agree about Disney. Especially after being in Utah, it poses almost no interest to me. I think I’d need to be real close to it for another reason, and have plenty of time to spare to consider going.

Finally got the new to us camper home. I bought this out of bankruptcy from the original owner, but had to wait on a lot of paperwork to get signed. Saved some money but what a headache. I have less than 5 weeks to be out of my house, and my wife wants to paint and remodel this thing :mad3:.

The new Gen-Y hitch really does make a huge difference. I can see the camper move independently from the truck and it rides really good overall.

My last day at my job is September 30th. It’s bitter sweet. It’s been the best job I’ve ever had, and I’m really good at it. Everyone is happy for me and excited, but sad to see me go. Several of my top clients have asked if I would come work for them when I return. That’s a good feeling.

I know this is crazy and borderline reckless, but I’m going to LIVE. Chase the dream, make the memories and put it all on the line.

So we are to this point now. Last night was the first night in the camper. We had it back on my gravel parking pad but today I moved it up on the driveway to be able to hook the water hose to it and also be closer to the Wi-Fi lol.

It was a good first night for everyone but me. It was pretty hot in our bedroom. At some point I turned the fan only on for the AC just to circulate some of the heat and that helped a lot. Tonight I will turn the thermostat down more and leave the fan on.
It was also awful cause the mattress in our bedroom we got is a full size queen. It’s a touch too long and made it hard to walk around and couldn’t open or close the door without lifting the corner of the mattress. One night of dealing with that determined it wasn’t gonna work. We were close to ordering a new, smaller mattress when we realized that it’s just a foam mattress with a cover so we unzipped it and cut 4” out of the foot of the mattress. This made a world of difference and now I can easily walk around to my side of the bed and the door opens and closes.
This is important cause as of lately it seems I cannot make it thru the night without having to pee at least once, sometimes twice. Even if I don’t drink any liquids after 8ish. It’s annoying.

There’s nothing much left in the house. It’s getting very real. 12 days to closing on the house.

I found the perfect buggy in TX that I really want but the dude is flaking and not communicating with me so I guess I will continue looking.

Hell yeah...

Are you posting to youtube or the 'gram to pay for all this shit?

How's that work out?
No YouTube as of right now. We have recorded lots of stuff just in case we do decide to do it. I’m just not sure I want to open ourselves up to that, and I question what I teach my kids about hard work if we are walking around recording our lives and become somewhat semi-famous because of it.
We do have a FB and IG but just a few hundred followers and we suck at posting regularly. Search for Talton Off Road & Travel if you want to check it out.

My wife works remote and I’m somewhat retired for right now. We have been debt free since 2018. Everything we own is paid for so that makes this doable since we don’t have payments and only normal expenses. Since we plan to stay stationary for several weeks or a month at a time, fuel isn’t much different than the normal running around when living in a house.
Damn, good luck man!
Would be awesome and scary at the same time.

It’s is awesome and scary for sure. It’s not real to me yet. At this point it feels like a vacation. Which technically it is for the next two weeks. I’m near the coast right now, and will move over to Holden Beach at the end of the week. But after that we settle into a campground near our home town for the rest of the year to be with family thru the holidays. Then it’s off to TN where I’ll stay at Windrock for a week and then drop down to Chocco, and a handful of other places.

If you get to southern MO on your journey make sure to hit up SMORR. Give me a week or two heads up and I will meet you there. I'll be in a RXR but would be happy to show you around.

Maybe you can at least up date us web wheeling fucks here or with a thread somewhere on this board?

If you don't have a roof fan (fantastic fan style) in the bedroom you might want to install one. I leave mine on low, sucking out, and it sucks all the hot air out. Unbelievable difference it made. I ordered one off of Amazon with the dark blue lid and it keeps the sunlight out very well. Overall it's the best Improvement for night time comfort that I've ever made in an RV

I have a fantastic fan in my toy hauler. I bought it used and it was already there. I probably wouldn't have bought it without seeing it in use but now that I have one if we ever upgrade campers and the new camper doesn't have one it will get one. Mine is located in the "garage" and I like to open the windows in our bedroom and draw air through the camper. I have to have air moving when i sleep. I sleep hot and if it's still air in the camper even if it's 65* I still get hot.

I had some warmer than normal temperatures in the truck coming here. It would peg 230° very easy. Considering I don’t have a rig on the back, it’s basically all flat and much cooler outside than last time I towed, I have a problem. I noticed I don’t hear the fan coming on, even when it hits 225°. I recently put the Hayden 2886 clutch which is so popular among the Duramax crowd. However I bought it off Amazon for about half the price of anywhere else and I’m sure I got a lemon. The reviews were 50/50 in it being the real deal or not. I took the gamble and now I’m paying for it.

So I called the main office of my next destination and asked if I could have a package sent there, explaining I am a full timer in need of truck parts. They said sure thing.I ordered another one from Rock Auto, just like I have on my Silverado 2500 with the 8.1, so Friday when I arrive at my new place I’ll be replacing a fan clutch which is a simple enough job.

I also agreed to purchase a buggy today. Now to arrange payment and shipping soon. I am beyond excited. The buggy will have to be delivered to a friend back in my hometown, and be taken to Rev Limit Fab to have the front stinger cut off and redone so it will fit on the truck. There won’t be room to spare and it will be right against the rack and at the very back of the bed lol.
Fingers crossed this deal doesn’t fall thru.

I think I've been following on of your Instagram pages for a couple years, at least the tow rig looks familiar.

I go to GER quite a bit, I'm a few hours from it. And if you ver get the chance hit up Big Dogs/Gore VA, I'm about an hour from there and they uave great trails, traction is unreal
