I'd like to get a fuel injection setup for my dad's 67 and don't know where to start. It's a 400 4 speed car, he's added edelbrock aluminum heads, intake, cam and dougs headers, stock other than that I believe. It's a sunny day driver and while he has all the oe parts numbers matching doesn't matter much to him, he'd rather be able to hop in it and go. We've talked about fuel injection several times and possibly a 5-6 speed swap down the road, and I think getting him the injection side of things would be a good start. I know a bit about tuning but not much, and he knows nothing. Who should I be looking at or talking to for a minimally invasive package deal for a mostly stock car that at a glance won't look out of place?

Holley sniper is a cake walk. You can do it with points if you want (I've done it on a 66 bronco 170 I6) and yes it works but you don't get everything out of it without ignition control so it's worth getting the ignition too. No need for the ignition box, the distributor will work with a regular coil.

You can run timing control off of a Petronix mounted inside of a stock distributor. I  there’s a way to run it off of points too, but doesn’t seem worth it to me since Pertronix is like $100

They’re a little buggy sometimes, but I’ve dealt with a ton of them and they’re overall a good product. That being said, a good running carb is usually 1 step behind in performance and 10 steps ahead in value.

Did the sniper on my 460. Love it. Idles higher than I'd like but I'm reading that a ford thing.

I put a holley sniper on my 1975 Cherokee with the 360.

It's amazing. Seriously. Hop in, bump the key and go.

Prior to that, it had to warm up for 5 minutes before I could set off.

Agreed, especially on the carb angle. My autocross Toyota has a 38/38 Weber on it and the choke isn't even wired up. In the winter I can hop in, give it a couple pumps and she fires immediately. I have to hold it at like 1200 RPM for a few seconds and then it'll idle all damned day. If I wired the choke up it'd have the high idle cam to hold it instead of my foot but fuggit, it runs killer as is. :smokin:

My biggest gripe with sniper kits is the shitty return line setup they include. It's fine for home gamers with zero skill I suppose but 20' of rubber line and a fuel fill tap that tends to leak is ghetto as hell. :homer:

When I did my sniper, I ran hard lines all the way from the tank to the engine bay on the firewall, and then flexible fuel hose for the last 18 inches to the back of the sniper kit.

EDIT: The Mastercool tools line flaring "pliers" set is THE SHIT.

Not mine and probably sucks.

I just bought an Aces EFI setup for the 383 in one of my toys. Haven't installed it yet but it seems very well made. I inslatted a Sniper kit last year and this kit seems as nice or nicer.

Plug the sniper return and run a frame mounted corvette filter with a built in regulator. Works great.

Aces and Fitech absolutely suck ass.

Sniper is the way if you're trying to stay "cheap" / entry level.
You don't need to use it to run timing but it'll help make it super nice and drivable.

I think Sniper still offers a quadrajet clone as well, to maintain a closer to stock look.

I love how nobody mentions Edelbrock. Even when trash talking. Makes me feel special.

$599 FOR THE FIRST 100 SOLD EVERY WEEK! :flipoff2: I've been tempted to pick one up

A well tuned Quadrajet offers outstanding driveabiity. And will not leave you stranded when some sensor fails.

Too soon junior:flipoff2:

My camaro has an edelbrock. It was pretty easy to install. Looks good. Works awesome. Has an app on my phone for data and tune saves. Self learning. Get in it and slap the tkx swap in gear and go. Whats not to love

Finally, .... curious, what GPM are you getting?

Id have to look next time i drive it honestly. Im usually having fun abusing the skinny pedal and not really paying much attention to it:laughing:. Currently it is parked and undrivable. Not from the fuel injection. Im just too fat to be dukes of hazarding over the doors and the latches are broken:laughing:

Edit: Whatever it is it is enough to feed 600 hp and 623 tq courtesy of a highly built 505ci bbc. So uhmmm pretty decent:flipoff2:.

Holley sniper or fitech ! Personally I think I’d try Fitech as they don’t push a proprietary ignition system and components as much which adds up quickly
The plug to the screen on the fi tech is not the best. I have a sniper kit on my jeepster and couldn’t be happier.
