What's new

Ford Bronco Release date set

Had mine since September and love it.
No idea on lead times, but I've heard a year out. Trying to decide if I'm going to keep it and upgrade as I can or trade it in for Warthog model (Raptor version)

there is no Warthog model. It will be a Raptor.

No kidding, that's just dumb. Stickies blow apart 35 spline D60 stuff and more. Who would think the stock anything will hold up. It will be interesting to see what the trail turning feature starts breaking.

I ran 37 reds on a non chromo Fj80 axles in a sami and 39 reds on chromo Fj80 axles in a 4runner.

It's all still driver. If you know what you're doing, you can roll up and over stuff other guys struggle on and arguably it's easier in some ways. But if you push the limit, they will often scatter parts much easier

Either way, he's having steering issues and it's 100% because of the stupid amount of scrub he's got going.

They call them bronco's but they look a whole lot more like a scout than any bronco ever made.

Yes I'm a hater shit posting in this thread about a bunch of people waiting forever for their fuckugly pile of technology. :flipoff2:
If you were given one or had $50k to blow on one w/o worry, would you still hate them?

Some grapes are sour, others are just . . . out of reach

Yes, have had a 2.7 4 door base model since mid-July. Just about to turn 6500 miles on it and we absolutely love it. Lots of power, rides great, and lots of interior room (big and tall guys will love it).

We picked up the wife's Base Squatch (also 2.7 4 door) last Tuesday and she is loving hers as well.

We might not be the only one on here with a new Bronco, but we're probably the one here with two of them.

Here's the new Base Squatch out for a Sunday drive:

What kind of mileage are you seeing with the 2.7?

Watching the 2nd "bronco vs Jeep" video. Just noticed the wheels are 5 lug, so he's obviously running some type of shitty spacer/adapter on top of the little amount of backspacing :homer:

If I wanted one I'd have one. I have no use for anything new and shiny. It's all technology and bullshit.

To call that rig a bronco is at least as bad as the FJ cruiser.

Waiting on these????? I saw one at the Chevy dealer on 512 and pacific…. Assuming being sold as “used”!!!!!!
Oh mans!!!!! No warthog ????? I hope they still do the “eddy bauer” edition!!!!!

Buddy of mine has one with 2K miles on it and dropped a valve. Shit happens with every engine model but still sucks.

I get it, and I wasn't saying you couldn't obtain one. But I also realize there's a disconnect between what you, I, and 400 other people would actually buy vs. what will sell 10s of 1000s of units.

When we bought our '10 JK Rubi, we wanted a base model with the Rubicon mechanicals - not an option. We bought the base-iest combo. that had those mechanicals, and I'm guessing they lost very few sales by making upscale options mandatory.

A Bronco is one of the candidates to replace the wife's FJC. She loves early Broncos, but an EB would be a horrible road trip vehicle so the reality is that the new "Bronco" is a better option for her & likely for the mass market. She also loves FJ40s, but the reality is she wouldn't buy one as a DD.

TL/DR: simple, inexpensive wheelers with solid axles won't sell millions. It sucks, but I get it.

What kind of mileage are you seeing with the 2.7?

On the base model with the little 30" tires we were getting 21mpg reliably.
BUT it looked downright silly on those little tires. We installed a set of 33" Milestar XTs and the mileage has plummeted to 17. Now we haven't done anything else to it, no regear, no speedo reset, just put the tires on and go.

Initially, my Base model was getting 19mpg, by the time we hit the 1000 mile mark it slowly started creeping up until we hit 21 mpg.

The wife's Sasquatch is getting 19 mpg so far, but is only on her 2nd tank of fuel, so not enough drive time to go by. We're hoping it will be like mine was and creep up a small amount when she hits the 1K mark.

She will love the Bronco over the FJC. More power, it rides and drives better and the visibility is way better.

I wonder if the lie o meter is really thrown off by tire size, or are these turbo motors really effected by tires size that much.

I went from 275/65r18s to 275/70r18s (because I'm crazy like that :flipoff2:) and the lie o meter dropped from ~20 to ~18. Went from passenger tires to e also, so maybe that's it?

19 isn't bad for the 35s and brick aero though. My in laws have a newer 3.5tt exploder, which is just a big car and it only gets about 20.

His lie o meter will get better when he recalibrates the speedo.

But I am surprised that he is getting that good of milage. My 2.7 F150 on stock tires gets 18 when I baby it. 17 is pretty standard because turbo and I use it.

F150s are big either way.

My wife's has a shell, which helps miliage, I think.

I've seen it say ~20.5 on a long trip with the factory tires. Or around 18 with mixed driving and current tires but it also got like 15-16 on our last long trip :homer: winter fuel maybe?

That bronco with the 40" stickys was scary, you can see the body move like it's loose after the body lift, the fix for the outter tie rods looks like the maxed out the heim and that is why there were breaking bolts.

There was a shot that had the body lift in it. It was legit hockey pucks. :barf:

Funny how some of these "big money" people can be so ghetto.

I ran across a video of some big 4wd shop putting tracks on a 2021 gladiator. I'm thinking, sweet tracks are cool.

They used those wierd narrow ones that you see on the back of mid size tractors, they looked like the weighed 1200 lbs ea and were only like 10" wide with ag type tread.

Then they made "custom" adapters that were literally 2 plates with about a 5" piece of pipe between them to go from 5x5" to 6 lug :barf:

I'm betting that guy is going to pay them $25k+ for all that garbage and it may not even do better than a good set of 37s at 3 lbs. :shaking:

They seem pretty cool, but something has to be done with those fender flares. Need to figure out a way to mount something along the lines of the cut EB flares to give it that a true bronco look. Looks like some cheap after-thought Bushwackers were just bolted on.

That's encouraging, about the same as my Wrangler. Which apparently appreciated in value by $5k over what I paid for it OTD back in May. Got me thinking about a bronco instead after I built a base sasquatch with the 2.7 and it was only 43k. :flipoff2:
But you can't get the fucking things so probably wait and see how bad the raptor is going to rape my wallet.

Mine has a back-flip cover on it. Either way, they do call them a lie-o-meter for a reason.

was kind of hoping for a little better real world MPG, 17-20 isn't bad for what the thing is but kind of shitty for a daily that racks up miles. Dad's only getting 17ish out of his 2015 2.7? F150 with slightly bigger and more aggressive tires than stock.

how is the road noise with the soft top? Anyone able to compare it to the hardtop noise?
