What's new

FNLC (kinda early edition)

Got two tires plugged on the car today, no idea what I ran over. Trying to decide on dinner, probably steak and a salad. Probably gonna watch some tv.
Dropped the car off finally after 2 months confirmed it’s the rear main seal. It has sat in my driveway the past year literally. Only going to cost 1200.00 to replace it and the clutch master cylinder on the camaro. Had others quote me 3400.00 for the rear main. If park that bitch in a lagoon before I made that kind of investment.

Wife is passed out we both work in the morning

Tossed some tree parts into the bulk pick up for Monday. Gonna make pasta for dinner cause looooservilleee here I come. Oh and I saw the ocean today at work. :lmao:

IN, Most Likely gonna eat dinner and get some sleep. Not sure if i want to get any work done tonight in the garage.

Spent the day moving vehicles around with flat tires and a trailer. Did some yard cleanup.

The rest of the night i will be setting up to replace a 18 foot brake line, cleaning the fuel filter housing, replacing the lift pump on my 7.3. So glad i can turn a tire and walk up to the engine in an MDT.

And fetch with my Cat Hunter because he won't stop pulling stuff off of my junky table.

Second update. Just informed gotta buy a new clutch. Guess covered in oil is making it questionable. At least it’s not because of the way I drove it the past 92k miles :homer: So there’s another 450 bucks. Oh and I’m eating past a.
Ramen?

Notable shit that happened this week.
1. Messed up a tire. Three plugs later it made it through the holiday weekend, a few hundred miles of driving, and sitting for two days.
2. It rained a bunch. Messed up stuff I need to do.
3. In-laws hit a hog about 2.5 hours from home. I made the 5+ hour round trip to get them. Got to sleep around 2:30 that morning. Got woke up at 5:30 by a kid who wouldn’t sleep.
4. Bought a new truck. It’s in the body shop for two weeks due to an employee screw up at the dealership.
5. Finished up some work stuff that’s been hanging over my head.
6. Waiting to see what fresh hell tomorrow will bring. :homer:

First up - master inverter blew some FETs a couple days ago. I knew of the Schneider problem, but ran 'em anyway. Figuring out what Victron inverters we're going to get.

Boys and I hooked up an M18 battery to the power wheels. It would turn on and stay on, but no drivey. Tried the lead acid battery. Voltage would tank any time the pedal was pressed. Boys bummed as we walk back to the house, I say, "wait, I have an idear". Whipped out a 12v BattleBorn. 100 amp hours oughta keep it going for a while

Seriously back out of that deal that’s on them inform the finance company and tell them kick rocks

Started at 0600 so I could finish something’s so my guy could be productive when he came in. I left to an offsite location to work on a plane, then when I came back in the afternoon my guy hadn’t done shit. He’d been there, but left. The hangar was supposed to be open by the end of the day, and then he doesn’t answer his phone. I put the new log grabber on the skid steer and have to get some new fittings to match new disconnects to lines, and spray hydraulic fluid all over because 1 flare fittings wasn’t fully tight. I’m covered in sweat and hydraulic oil, and supposed to be headed to Idaho at 6. Camper isn’t packed, skid steer isn’t loaded, nothings ready. Pulled the plug on tonight and here I am a sweaty stinky loser. Wife was surprised to see me home, I think she had her boyfriend coming over later :lmao:.

anything sorta halfass cheap and near a similar rating on digikey, or are they all like $5 apiece and therefore not worth shotgunning a few new ones at it

because they might just explode again if it was a dead short somewhere instead of a lightning strike or whatever

First week back to work is done and gone, I scored a gravy run this time and can pull it off in about 3 hrs while gettin' my 4 hours minimum pay. It's a fend for yourself Friday here so I'll be working my way through leftovers tonight. Gonna be an early rack time so I can hopefully get a bunch of work done on my junk tomorrow.

No. It's been a known issue since 2018. Word has been that Schneider fucked up the CANbus firmware and then abandoned support for their SW units.

Family member died Sunday and the fun-eral was today. Cancer sucks. Luckily he got thrown out of the hospital and he was able to say goodbye to everyone and pull his own plug at his home. That made him happy. It’s interesting to reflect on how much that side of the family hates everyone. It’s as entertaining as it is sad. Not a dam thing I can do about it.

Polished the Cumaro up for C&C tomorrow, ran into a buddy at the parts store and headed home.

car is making BAD noises again, gonna try an ancient can of STP
from before it even said 'turbocharger rated' on it
we'll see if it dissolves the yellow metal, I guess
Need some marvel mysterious oil. I know of a lot of 1.6 stuff if you need any.
Smack dab in the middle
Still 6 hours from me.

spent an extra 2 hrs this morning on a job that was supposed to be a little 2-3hr job yesterday. got that finished, had to move my two machines home. so I grabbed one extra bucket with the excavator thumb, and ran a strap to the other bucket and ran it up on the trailer. got up there and needed to raise the boom so the strapped bucket wasn't dragging on the deck, but the boom was topped out, so brilliant me decided to roll the bucket and pull the strap up higher,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, and dropped the two foot bucket on the trailer from high up blowing out two boards....
never did get back to the nv4500 I needed to mill the top on and get back in a truck today. guess that'll be a sunday job now. not doing anything tomorrow.

I dunno 100% yet what it's doing, the low oil pressure is probably from the lifter bores being wallowed out bad

the angry rattle when off the throttle is either...
a rod cap lost one of its bolts,
or an injector (and dv) stuck open so injection pump case pressure is ejaculating in there whenever the transfer port is open,
or the low oil pressure is making a lifter collapse

the rattling comes and goes seemingly randomly, so I don't think it is broken hard parts (yet)
I didn't roll the engine over when I was looking at the lifters, maybe one of them that was compressed has a broken valve spring or some shit

Dunno, with how bad it sounds I'll certainly find out what's going on shortly.

poop
I've had pretty good luck replacing blown up TO-220 package components fairly blindly

what kinda machine you using for that big of a surface?
1974 military bridgeport mill. I gotta shave 1/4" off where the shifter bolts to. apparently the 01up chevy tops are 1/4 taller than the older dodge and chevy square tops. someone swapped the top to the newer style but used a dodge shift tower so its jumping out of the groove if you shift too hard.

I would repair it, but they're not really worth it. Several components burnt. We need the stacking. Gonna go Victron. Nice thing is our house is 20 minutes or so from Missouri Wind and Solar.

Also grabbed some new casters at Hobo Freight for my Hobo Freight cherry picker. 5" plastic this time. Maybe they'll roll. Probably crack after a couple uses, but I'm tired of fighting bent casters.

Wife had the week off work, so I took it off too. We are doing a home project. Adding a wall and French doors to make an office space and wrapping a fireplace in drywall and leaving a little exposed brick where we need to.

Finished hanging drywall today, start finishing it tomorrow. Flooring install is Wednesday, so we are working to a deadline.

Looking forward to this being done and getting back in the shop.

I’ll be following along. You seem to have the absolute worst luck with tdis.

I’m betting it’s injection issues.
