Anyone have one? Looking for a smaller carry gun and really looking for a RD setup gun. Don't have anything FN at the moment.

Seriously looked at them several times, but then looked at how the trigger mechanism works and it just seems way overly complex compared to a glock or similar.

I own several other fn pistols fnx 45 tactical and a 5.7 don't ever carry either of them. If I could get what I have in them back out, I would probably sell them on.

Unless you get a smoking deal on one, I probably wouldn't bother.

Hmm, I didn't get to mess with the trigger as they had a trigger lock on it. There were some 5.7 and FNX around but the grips look quite a bit bigger/bulkier on them. I did look at a 503 as well but that had a really weird grip.

Want to put a RD on my styer but little support for them. Main carry is a P2000 but even they don't have much anymore.

I got the FN 509 compact mrd in about February, not to long after they came out. I was originally looking for something a little smaller than my glock 19 but bigger than my 43. It’s just barely smaller than the 19 though. But for me personally it feels a little better. I have a inforce aplc on it, and a holosun red dot. Fits perfect, looks good. Overall I’ve been very pleased with it.

ive got probably 750 rounds down the pipe, no issues at all. Paid a little over $600 for it.

only problem right after I got it was finding a light bearing holster for it. Found one company who made one, ANR design, had never heard of them but ordered one cuz I didn’t have much choice. It’s well made, been pleased with it. Tier 1 just started offering holsters And I ordered one a few days ago.

hope this helps.

I have a 509 tac with an rmr and like it a lot. Not sure I’d pay full price but for $600 like new I couldn’t really pass it up. It never gets left in the safe when I go shoot.

What red dot are you looking at running?

The triggers on the 509s aren't great, I would want to do an apex trigger on it if I bought one.

I don't want to seem too down on them, but the 509 is pretty expensive for what you get. Do you need a threaded barrel and supressor height sights on a compact carry pistol?
You also loose your rear sight if you run a red dot on the 509.

On a Sig P320 you can keep the rear sight with the red dot.

Still not too sure how much I like the red dot on a pistol. My brain wants to find the sights, then the red dot.
I'll keep practicing with it, but switching back to regular sights on all my other pistols sets back my progress.

It has a vortex red dot on it.

I have to have reading glasses on the really see the sights clearly which is rare so I'd like to start using red dots.

I understand the transition takes some training.

I'm not sure about the rear site, hadn't noticed that. And the threaded barrel is questionable as in need. I need to get a can soon, and if if I have something to use it on it might help me to just get it done.

I have a Walther PPQ 45 SD and its a fantastic weapon. I bought it because it allows for fully ambidextrous operation (reversible mag release, all else dual controls), it has the best trigger of any striker-fired pistol I know of, it fits in my hand better than any Glock or H&K, it has a factory threaded, polygonally rifled barrel, and it only cost me $510. I bought this with the intention of using it as a suppressor host. I couldn't be happier. I would encourage you to consider a PPQ.

Do they have the cut for a Red Dot. My Styer has a pretty amazing trigger, just minimal aftermarket support in the red dot area.

Not sure. I would consider having a gunsmith machine the correct cut for a red dot mount. It can't be that much.

thanks, I'll look into it. I shouldn't be buying anything right now as I just bought a metal roof that needs to be installed.

Parker mountain machine cuts all kinds of slides for red dots. They don't have the Styer listed, but I am sure they could machine it.

If you like the styer, sounds like you do, might be best to add a red dot to it. They can machine it to directly mount the optic you want with out the adapter plate, keeping the sight low and not adding extra mass.
