I don’t know about everybody else but the amount of delayed and canceled flights is unbelievable. Out of everyone I know personally talking about travel, very very few of them actually got to the airport took off on time and arrived at the destination at the time needed. The majority of people I talk to have had to get a different flight or fly to another city Rent-A-Car and drive to their destination. I know some people that had to cancel their trips altogether because they were going to miss the event they’re flying to. The amount of pilots timing out on the runway and having to return to the gate it’s all just crazy

I fly every 3 weeks from Calgary to Vancouver then to Terrace then back again, only had a couple weather delays.

There’s 15 different people meeting in Orlando this weekend. So far I’m the 3rd that’s had issues with flights.

I fly mainly Southwest out of DIA and have not been having issues. Flown several times in the last year for work and for vacation.

Wife was in Orlando for work meeting this week....straight shot there, PDX to Orlando...no issues. Coming home Wednesday, hour delay boarding, 2hrs on tarmac then back to the gate...hour later, they get re-routed thru Vegas with a layover.
She was supposed to in at 8:30pm originally, I picked her up at 4am Thurs morning :homer:

I’ll take your word for it, until they drop the mask bs I’m not going on planes
Its beyond ridiculous. The Monk's grill in the Vancouver airport is packed shoulder to shoulder no masks but if you step foot out of restaurant security damn near tackles you and tells you to muzzle up.

Besides security in Houston being a shitshow due to construction, I had no issues when I flew in September.

And it would have been fine if I didn't have a 8wk old puppy in a carrier who lost his patience after five minutes. He was a whiny boy for the other forty minutes. But he was so damn cute that most people didn't mind.

I could care less if they drop the mandate. I hated flying before. Now I just won't fly at all.

Sure, the world is a little smaller now, but I can drive most places I want to go anyway.

Yup.

I agree. Its a miserable experience. :flipoff2:Pilots timing out is not our fault. Some duty limits are not extendable per the .gov. if we had our way most of us would complete the flights. I am headed to the airport shortly to fly as a passenger with the family... not looking forward to it.:barf:

Haven't had any real issues personally. Probably average 4 flights or so a month since about this time last year and haven't had any delays that resulted in arriving late. Mostly AA and mostly regional flights, so maybe it's worse with other carriers?

The masking BS sucks for sure, as does that fact that the safety brief is now 3 times as long because they have to yack about covid and masking.

My buddy that retired from the AF (FA/22 & F15 pilot), now flys for FedEx and loves it the "passengers" never complain about masks, or shitty pretzels.

When I was flying a lot I had 120+ flights between 2004-2016. I was a Southwest regular with status and shit.

I don’t have to do that anymore and I’ll never fly again.

I almost got arrested at TSA and was in constant conflict with them afterward.

Fuck all that dog and pony show, along with the mask mandates and the fact that I’m to the point of speaking my mind about all of it, I vowed I would never fly again.

And I don’t need to. Fuck em. I’ll drive and I actually like driving.

I fly for work, just getting back into it after working from home for 2 years.

I flew RNO to LAS this week. The verdict is that I don't miss flying at all. I usually fly between 50 and 70 round trips a year. Hope it's not that much this year.

Que 10$ a gallon gas.......
I don’t care still.

My experience to make my own way on my terms in my time is worth it.

Don’t think airline tickets won’t go up to meet the fuel prices.

Would it be cheaper to fly given mile to mile comparison?

Maybe, maybe not. But I’m willing to pay comparable or maybe more just so I can travel my own way in my own time.

And not have to deal with the herding of sheep and get felt up and radiated in the name of ‘safety’.

Am at airport now.... looking as this fukin herd of cattle... every seat on plane is sold and they are asking for volunteers to go tomorrow. Man i dont like being a passenger.

I fly every 10 days . Hate it, they need an business only airport and airlines. The stimi flyers have to stop soon. Thank God for pre check and you still have idiots there!

This. Absolutely this. Has been getting worse for a few years now. Seems to happen more on non-major routes, i.e.,Dallas to Las Vegas will be ok but anything involving connections and second-tier airports will be sketchy. Plus, all of the additional air travel nightmares - overcrowded, seats too small, security and COVID theatre, generally being treated like a piece of shit.

I used to fly four and five days a week back in the day. Air travel was not perfect but it was a whole lot different than what we see today. I avoid air travel nowadays like the plague. Schedule permitting, I'd rather drive 1500 miles.
