I know people will say "sell it and buy a new one" but this thing is 20 years old and already in pieces. Looking at it, 3 of the bores are the same and would just need some new holes drilled. The back side of the front output shaft would need bored to 4.50" and the new location would need a block off plate made.

Curious if anyone has actually done this?

The other option is run it upside down. I found some old pbb threads talking about this. One guy had zero issues running a pass drop upside down. Since it's apart, I could easily flip the parts that have oil galleys over.

I just posted in another thread. I have a project that will be running a passenger drop 44 eventually go to drivers drop 60. Looking at the newer atlas cases and the cases look interchangeable from left to right. Called and asked told me “the case is the only thing that’s the same bunch of stuff inside has to change”. Not sure I really believe them as I’ve played with midnight metalworks Dana 300 which is swappable. Seems that an atlas would be the same.

In your case if your bored go for it otherwise sell it for a deal to someone and fork over a few hundred bucks more for a brand new case.

This is the only part I can find that seems "directional" easily fixed with a drill. (pattern is asymmetrical)

As far as "selling and buying new" I just don't see anyone paying $2500+ for this old case with no shifters.

Another thing is this, I think I can clean it up and run it, but I wouldn't feel right not disclosing, which makes the sale hard.

Mostly just curious if anyone has done it, or if I'm missing some major reason why I couldn't do this.

Weld that up and reclaim it for starters

Easier said than done, since it's down inside the case. Talking to someone who's fixed, rebuilt and raced a lot of atlas' it's just a stationary thrust washer boss, so it doesn't need to be a perfect surface. Consensus was to clean it up with sand paper or file, assemble and check the gaps.

If I fully decide to switch to driver drop, it may make more sense to just buy a driver drop housing.
