have this fj40 buggy
bbc454,np205, th400,dan60,14bolt and 42" treps

recently got stuck in the mud pool and engine took some mud water and destroyed oil pump and bearings.

after taking engine out figured it was good time to upgrade it to 4 wheel steering 416 mogs

started by cutting front axel to passenger side drop.

555lbs, 66" wms 8.36" diff offset . i can use the long splined short side by cutting it to short spline but now long locker side shaft has to be re made

Portals are such a pain to package, especially in a established rig.

So how much of a change do you expect? Like what was and what will be belly/overall height? Are going to end up with a monster truck or are you able to keep it within reason?

drive height should stay ~ 79" belly 24"
mog tubes are in 24" with 42" treps
wheel base 116"

it would make it ~4" taller
5" longer
1.5" narrower

So how will the height change affect your rig overall in your opinion?

Will it be beneficial in your local terrain?

seems i can get it stay just 2 " taller then old, so i dont think chassis height will be issue.
ground clearance gained under axels will make huge difference

Cant remember if your old set up was rear steer. Did you have to cut the rear fenders more for this?

Are you worried about the bent uppers with the extra leverage from the portals?

got my stuff started today. had some belt idler tracking issue but sorted it by swapping new one with flanges.

twin gear pumps now both have Pressure-compensated flow control valve. rear steer from from 12v valve
