I've had a 3x4 Rhino fixture table for a couple years and I've resisted welding too many pieces out on it just because I don't want to fuck it up. Usually I get everything dialed in and transfer to one of my shitty benches to weld out. I've found myself using it more and I'd like to keep it flatish, is there a process to doing this or should I just keep to doing things the way I have been? Tig obviously isn't a problem but I would like to glue shit together more on this thing if I can keep the mess to a minimum.

Are you worries about weld splatter? Could spray it down with wax. Fireball tool in youtube did a review of different anti-spatter sprays.

Yep spatter is the main concern. I haven’t really messed with any of the sprays other than nozzle shield, I’ll see if I can find that video.

I don't have a fixture table, but I'll sometimes use a few small-ish plates of aluminum to shield my metal table directly around where I'm welding. Just lay them down flat. old welding jacket works, and old gloves too (for small areas)

I've never used any of the anti-spatter spray or wax, seems to me like it would eventually make a mess? maybe I'm wrong.

Anti spatter pretty much makes a mess as soon as you spray it.
I only spray the table when I'm going to be moving something around on it a lot between welds, less likely for spatter to stick to the table and scratch what I'm welding.

I don't have a problem grinding dingle berries off the table top though, I usually grind the whole table with a sanding pad after finishing a welding project anyway. Having a fixture table also means you don't need to weld things directly to the table anymore.

I'm sure anti spatter spray does make a mess, but for some people, it's better than grinding the dingleberries off. Some of those fixture tables can be ridiculously flat, and grinding on them makes them less flat.

I've read that cast iron repels weld spatter the best out of everything.
