Fix r12 or convert?

Like the thread says, fix or convert? 1973 pontiac, no idea whats wrong with it, and never done r12 before.

I got some r12 to r134 adapters, can i use my r134 gauges?

I converted, but also replaced everything in the system at the same time. The adapters work fine with the gauges.

Dunno where you are at, But you can still get recycled r12 in the prk , just not easy or cheap
