Went here for years and years growing up. Haven’t been for 25 years.

We’re looking to take my Dad to somewhere similar in Oregon, Washington or Idaho next year. Something drivable from Nor Cal (12 hours max driving).

Cabins, a dock, small lodge, boats to rent (I’ll tow mine also) for a week stay. Quality fishing is required. The more secluded the better.

Anybody know of anything like that? Thanks!

Crater Lake Resort, Fort Klamath, Oregon is cool, not sure about the fishing right at the resort but many rivers and at least three lakes close by.
Diamond Lake
Agency Lake
Upper Klamath Lake
Wood River
Sprague River
Upper Rogue River
Lower Klamath Lake
All nearby

I think some of those guys are fun to watch. I fish a little, it's more of a distant hobby for me.

But just like anything else that goes on YouTube, there is a big fad for addicted fishing gear/stickers etc. people watch that shit, go and drop $$$$$$$ on fishing gear and can't figure out why they aren't as successful as the addicted fishing crew:lmao:

I don't have any suggestions for accomodations. I've just slept in the car/tent or drove early morning.

But I've fished the Wilson and trask over the years. Beautiful spot. Bank fishing or drift boat, if you are into that kinda thing. You can charter an off shore trip while you are in the area too and go eat some 'mook cheese.

Depends on what kind of fishing you want to do and what time of year. Central Oregon has lots of good trout fishing in the spring and early summer, not so great in late summer. Fall salmon is good on the Columbia mouth but you will want guides. Drifting coastal rivers in the fall for salmon can also be good.

Anywhere deep along the Colombia river. Put him on a sturgeon and nothing tops that cake.

Will be Fall or Spring. We want to do Salmon for sure, but most of the time bobbing around the lake.

Thanks! I’m on it.

Also a jet boat rapids ride is on my list.
We have done the Gold Beach to Agness (Oregon) run on the mail boats. It's a hoot! Last trip saw everything from Black bears to Bald eagles. We will do it again.

You gotta admire their marketing. It looks like they buy the worst fishing garbage off of temu, slap it in their packaging and quadruple the price. Seriously their products just look like garbage designed too catch idiots not fish.

I like how their slogan says " products designed to get people excited about going fishing" not "products designed to catch more fish". They should just say "products designed specifically to seperate dumbasses from their money".

shiny lures are ment to catch dumb people not more fish... just speaking out loud what my 75 year old boat owner keeps repeating... and i belive him. he has 50 years commercial fishing. im on my 10th. and many of our competitors agree as well

We charterd a guide out of Depo Bay a couple years ago for crab, lings and rockfish. He fucking killed it. We had more fish and crabs than we knew what to do with.

I prefer Canada, it's not remote until you get dropped off in a bush plane on floats. :flipoff2:

There's an amazing trout stream 3 blocks from my house. I hate trout.

I drive to the Missouri River and catch walleye and small-mouth.

I thought there was all sorts of stuff to do in California :flipoff2:

I'd focus on the salmon and colder water ocean fish on the coast myself. You can catch rainbows anywhere.

Look at some of the coastal rivers in Washington. Get ahold of the tribe the river runs through and talk to them. A friend kills it on the Ho river every year. Lower Columbia has great fishing but is a fucking zoo when the fish are there. A guide at least for a day if worth their weight in hold on a river like that. Find a lake that has had german browns stocked in them. They get FUCKING HUGE around here. Small to medium sized salmon German Browns

I took my dad to a spot in Idaho last summer that might be what you’re looking for. We found this small lodge with cabins right on the lake, super quiet, and the fishing was top-notch. We spent a week there, and it felt like we had the place to ourselves most days. You could probably find something similar using this site that lists best fishing spots. It’s been handy for finding places with good fishing when we’re planning trips. A little extra research, and you might find the perfect spot for your trip.

Going here from Sunday to Sunday next week. Looks like it’s gonna fit the bill for now and just a 3 hour drive.

Funny thing is... 1/2 the fishermen I know, don't like to eat fish. They just like catching them.
