First time with a gas smoker

At mom’s place and she has heard my brother talk about my ribs and said “I have a smoker you can use”.

This is the smoker. A propane Masterbuilt unit.

Wish me luck. :laughing:

I bought some Lava Lock and put on the back side of the door to help seal it up and grabbed some hickory chips to throw in the pan. I did an initial test yesterday for temp control and all and the hickory chips caught fire. :laughing: :homer:

So far today I've got it somewhat steady between 225-250.

Hard to control, but once you get it, it’s game on. :smokin:

Put water and some of your marinade in the pan on the bottom with the hickory chips. This will help keep the wood from burning and control temps better.

That thing is the best for beer can turkey. :smokin:
 
I’m not sure if you are talking to me or him, but I did when I had one. It was just over the burner, before the racks. It was a good buffer for the heat and added moisture to the setup.
