I've decided to build one of these things for the funsies.
I need to order some fancy PLA, but I think I'm going to start with attempting the ECM barrel first.

Who else is tinkering?

fwiw, i've got about 1 hours worth of 3d printing knowledge over the course of a lifetime :rasta: so i'm far from knowledgable

Pla is the most dimensionally stable plastic. Abs and nylon shrink.
The new pla plus additives are coming out nearly as strong as abs,but much easier to print. The whole the hg was developed around pla+ and is the recommended filament.

PLA+ is what it was designed to be printed in, no sense trying to reinvent what already works. FGC9 is an interesting project I might get into farther down the line once my printer is a little better set up (cold garage is causing me lots of warping issues).

I've done a couple .22 derringers and parts/furniture for my other guns. CTRL-Pew's pistol brace is as nice as any of them you can buy commercially.

Nice. I’ve been watching PSR videos. It definitely has my attention but it’s only a matter of time before the ATF deems printers to be machine guns.

At the rate they're going the ATF is going to declare everything in the world a machine gun or a suppressor.

Been sorta tangentially watching for a long while. Not really paying much attention as I prefer my real steel crapguns that everyone here has seen on the old board.
the printed cetmes weird me out but it now makes sense why the kits dried up and barrels are unobtanium

on that guy, they running a metal bolt on them? I'd think they'd need to with the force exerted by the case head...

The bolt and barrel are metal. The bolt is just a metal rod with some "machining" you could accomplish with a cordless drill. The point of the FGC9 is to be built with stuff that was common/unregulated especially in Europe. Like a Luty just with plastic.

The 3d printed CETMES and AK's do nothing for me, guy that did the Amigo Grande is also working on an MP5 for those interested in spending a grand or more on a 3d printed gun.

Not since the 80s
thus my trepidation

took some digging to find a picture of the bolt without some autist showing all the doodads that they printed to accessorize their crapgun
couple pieces of round stock welded together with a firing pin channel drilled through
didn't see an extractor, kinda cool to see another blowback without one, kinda like... I wanna say little berettas didn't have an extractor (on straight blowbacks they're mostly to direct the ejection direction)

it's a dirt simple thing.

In no way do I expect it to be a nice firearm or anything equal to a commercially made piece. probably fail after a hundred rounds.
but I got all the stuff here except plastic and a piece of pipe the right size, so why not?
mostly the ECM barrel is really interesting to me so I want to try it for the science.
