Is that next? Sure sounds like their ramping it up to try and make us all wear faceshields and goggles. This is so far out of hand I'm having a hard time comprehending it... One freedom at a time, when is enough going to be enough...
 
I was at the DMV yesterday and after looking around couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of this all.

One guy behind the counter had a face shield and no mask.

People had to remove their mask to get their DL photo taken.

3 people dug under their mask to itch their nose.

One dude had a cutoff t-shirt sleeve as a mask.

After each customer they'd wipe the counter down, but not the pen on the chain, yet it was cash only.


I know there are a ton of stupid examples like this out there, but the absurdity of these mask mandates really sunk in yesterday. They're not accomplishing a damn thing.

What did surprise me though is that during the entire hour I was there, not one person coughed or sneezed.

I know, I don't get out much. COVID has finally given me excuse to become the hermit I always aspired to be. :laughing:
 
Those shields are a shit excuse to not wear a mask are totally useless unless you have a spit talker extraordinaire... and then it's only going to stop the directional spit. Everything else comes around anyhow.
Goggles... in combination with a N95 or better mask, in a very high contagious environment like a covid ward in a hospital, ok. For public use. lets say while shopping - I don't see it helping much.
 
Home Depot was a shit show of poor mask wearing last night. A good percentage of folks had their noses out or had them parked on their chins. It's not that hard people.

I'm ready to be done with this...

Fauci says we should wear face masks and shields or goggles. His new concern keeping shit out of ALL our mucosal surfaces, now including the mucosal surfaces on our eye balls. They didn't matter before, now they do. Because, ya know, why would the leading expert in this field think about that in the previous 6 months?
We've seen some fun contraptions already, can't wait to see what the people of Walmart come up with now :bounce2:
 
Just move to management or an elected position. From what I can tell, anyone in those two areas are immune and do not require a mask. :rolleyes:

If anyone was really paying attention and watched many of the pressers with Fauci and Brix and the others you'd already know that you can get the infection through your eyes. And to be clear, this is what Fauci actually said:

“Theoretically you should protect all of the mucosal surfaces [eyes, nose, mouth], so if you have goggles or an eye shield, you should use it,” he said in an interview with ABC News on Instagram Wednesday.

Fauci recommended goggles in addition to a face mask for those who want “perfect protection” from the COVID-19, but admitted it’s not “universally recommended.”

This is old fucking news, from months ago. I see no reason to get all over Fauci for saying what he and others have said since the beginning. You are being played by the media again. You should have already known this.
 
I work at a very large assembly plant with several thousand employees under roof. Safety glasses and masks are strictly required. Only isolated cases and no outbreaks. In contrast the small town where I live has an outbreak happening with many cases coming from indoor gatherings with no precautions and it spread from there.

I don't believe the government has the power to mandate the use of masks and glasses or goggles even though I believe they do reduce the spread.

this is hilariously wrong. medical professionals working the testing lines, i.e. high exposure to people who are most likely to have the actual disease, are commonly wearing faceshield, goggles, quality masks, gloves and disposable overcoats.

"in a highly contagious environment" is exactly why people say "PPE is clearing beneficial in hospitals, but not for the general public". that is why the PPE gambit for the general public, this does not apply to high risk individuals never nor ever, offers zero to marginal benefits, especially with a non-airborne virus where sanitation and physical distancing offer the greatest reduction in public transmission.

No, the .gov probably doesn't have the power to mandate masks, googles, whatever. However, they can browbeat businesses, that don't get shut down altogether, to make them mandatory, which in effect is .gov mandating those things.

It is virtually impossible now to enter a business that doesn't require a mask be on where I live if they want to stay open or not hear it from the whiner crowd.

Dismantled the dakota few years back. Got another one but DDing it now. Working 7 days, no time, and i got enough trucks to keep me busy.

If Fraudi, er I mean Fauci said that people should do the Hokey-Pokey when entering and exiting public places, the Left would be whining and crying to mandate that people do the Hokey Pokey. All for a virus that according to the CDC's own definition hasn't even reached the level of a pandemic. Real pandemics don't need inflated numbers and there have been many, many, many "mistakes" made in the "official" numbers of both how many are infected and how many have died. And even with their fake numbers, it still doesn't meet the CDC's criteria of a "pandemic."

Look, listen, I get it, people make mistakes, yet here is the thing: real mistakes happen BOTH directions. Of the many, many, many "mistakes" being made how many of them have deflated the Chinese Wuhan virus numbers? NONE! Statistically speaking, about 50% should (if they were "honest mistakes").

These are not "mistakes" but purposeful, intentional skewing of the Chinese Wuhan Virus numbers... all to make the virus seem worse than it actually is. AND EVEN WITH THEIR FAKE NUMBERS it still doesn't meet the criteria for a Pandemic by the CDC's own definition!

Shed their symbols of obedience, open that which they closed and get out and start acting like Americans rather than abused subjects of a 3rd world dictator!

Hell yes, we got a thinker here. This same thing applies to anytime I argue with my wife about a timeline and she says things like "I thought it was an hour ago"(when it was 2 hours). Over the years, I notice that not once has she "accidentally" thought it was 3 hours when in face it was 2. Nope, those mistakes only go one way. The way that favors her position on whatever the subject is. I love my wife and I'm so glad that this is like my biggest complaint about her because it's such a non issue but simply a funny trivial little thing to fuss about. :laughing:


Every mistake only favors your position? Yeah, hard to call those honest mistakes.

Agreed wholeheartedly. Everyone keeps screaming about the supposed 150,000 deaths In the USA from the Rona. But here is the thing. A quick google shows the population of the USA sitting around 328 million. So that supposed 150k wuhan flu deaths works out to .0003% of the population. That isn’t even a drop in the bucket of our total population. In fact it is borderline insignificant in the grand scheme of things. And yet this is what people are freaking out and losing their minds over. I would also wager the true number of deaths directly from the Rona are lower than the reported 150k. Given the amount of reports that have come out about hospitals getting more funding with more reported Rona cases and deaths. It only helps them out if they inflate the numbers.

Do you fucking understand what is happening to people who survive it? There are long term consequences to this virus. There is more to all of this than just the death toll. I know a lot of you mouth breathers like to throw that number around. Try talking to people who have survived this virus or who are currently fighting it. For fucks sake...

while I don't discount the long term effects, ~80% of people who have tested positive have none, so 2-5% die and that mean about 15-20% have issues of varying degree.

does it suck? absolutely.

is it anywhere close to what was projected and that masking and shutdowns and stay at homes were originally based on? not even

small minority have long term effects, at least from what we know now.

The virus isn't going away. It'll outlast humans.
