A U.S. Air Force F-15C Eagle fighter jet crashed at approximately 9:40 am local time today in the North Sea.

The cause of the crash as well as the status of the pilot are unknown at this time. The pilot remains missing and U.K. Search and Rescue have been called to support.

The jet was from the 48th Fighter Wing, stationed at RAF Lakenheath, United Kingdom.

Col. Will Marshall, 48th Fighter Wing commander, released a video statement saying, “Search and Rescue effort are currently underway, but the pilot of the aircraft is still missing. We will provide updates as they become available, while prioritizing respect and consideration for the pilot’s family.”

I hope they find the pilot.

Pilot's body has been recovered 😞
RIP

Is their G-suit rated like an immersion suit? Or is it more or less hope you get in your raft and don't die of exposure right away?

RIP Col. Marshall. :frown:

no, not at all. G-suit is just basically leggings. And the flight suit is just thin ass nomex.

Most likely loss of altitude

Was there in the USN, they said hypothermia would be within 5 minutes and dead within 45 minutes or when removed from the water, whichever came first.

They told us in the Japan sea if you fall off you'll be dead before we can get a helo in the air. So don't fall off.

RIP Pilot.

Those guys should be flying in a poopie suit (rated for the water) with a one man raft and survival shit.

Taking a stab, I'm guessing CFIT or similar. Either way, it'll be blamed on the pilot, because Air Force. They can't say their jets are 'unsafe' even if they are.
