I am interested in using the Milwaukee 10T Knockout Tool to punch 2 3/8" diameter holes in 10ga SS and 12ga SS (both T304L and T316L).

Based on the spec's it seems like it should do it no problem.

The problem i am having is finding a 2 3/8" diameter punch and die set for this tool. I haven't used one, so i don't know which other brands will work with it. It does not look like Milwaukee has a 2 3/8" set, but other mfgr's do.

Does anyone have experience with this tool that can provide some ideas?

Currently, we are hole-sawing the holes and that works OK but is slow and occasionally one will slip and gouge up the face of the SS which has to be sanded and polished back to #3 finish...the knock-out set seems much faster and less risky. Currently i have a project in New Zealand that needs 18 of these holes punched and fittings welded in so the tool would pay for itself on this first project. The guys down there already have Milwaukee M18 batteries and chargers, so i just need to send them the tool and punch/die set.

Thanks!

Knockout punches/dies are typically conduit size, not actual hole size, so a 2" conduit die set is a ~2 3/8" hole.

What's the actual application? If you need a hole that's exactly 2 3/8" then I don't think there's a knockout set out there that'll work for you. The OD for 2" sch40 pipe is 2 3/8 and Granger lists the hole size for that punch as 2 15/32. I just compared a new 2 3/8" hole saw to a new 2" greenlee punch I had on the shelf and the OD is identical, so you'll probably get the same results or maybe better since hole saws aren't exactly round to begin with.

They do make knock out punches for exact hole sizes and specialty holes. They just take some searching. The electrician used it on my site to punch 3 inch and up conduit and it appeared to work well. I was told they would never go back to the hydraulic hand pump.
