Ok, Starting a new Thread,

I've been quietly looking for a toter platform, Nothing has caught my eye until something like this. I've got no idea what prices or years available are for something like this.

But as a platform, what configuration or options would work?

I was originally looking at a shortish rig with a sleeper and doing a 5er on a gooseneck with my rig on the back of the that.

But this might change the configuration.

Thoughts?

How many bagillion miles are on it and how often do you plan on driving it?

Glad to see this thread as I’ve always been curious about this setup as well. Unfortunately I know nothing about them.

If you went this route, what would be your plan for the box and a trailer? Meaning, would the box be living area and a trailer in tow or the box for the rig with a camper in tow?

Saw basically this same setup at AOP last weekend - cab and sleeper and the box was replaced with a flat bed with ramps.

How will it be titled? RV? Commercial?

this seems like the easiest thing, stretch out the cab/sleeper into a decently large living space as you see fit, toss on ~12' worth of flat bed and ramps on the back and rock on

@OP, It's fun spending other people's money. :flipoff2:

I'd build the whole thing out into an RV and then get a bumper pull trailer with the toy(s) in it to drag behind. Title it as an RV.

Chopping the box off and putting a flat deck on is going backwards in my opinion. Why would you want to rip out a garage to install a driveway? Leaving your shit strapped to an open deck and driving all over the country showing it off sounds like a great way to get your junk stolen, vandalized or both...... Out of sight, out of mind is my thought on this.

These things run nonstop. They are pretty setup inside. Kitchen because the couple literally lives in em. I looked in one a couple had the hvac guy where I worked fixing the ac in the middle of a run. They are pretty much an even already. I would bet you’re not getting one without a million plus on the clock.

Exactly what I was thinking. No reason to ditch the box.

I'd probably ditch the front drive axle and possibly move it back. Then build whatever box space I didn't need for the rig and tools into rv space.

This is the rig that started the wheels turning, I'm a couple years out from retirement, and plan on doing plenty of driving/traveling also staying for more than a weekend when we get where we are going.

We'd like to do a lot of traveling.

Then I See the Expediter Rigs, It might mean a longer truck, with a shorter Trailer. what are the pros and cons either way.

With the expedited truck you could pull a much shorter stacker style trailer and still have the same, if not more space for storage than the rig you posted above.

These are available from 24' up to 32'.

The scrub on that 4 axle trailer has got to be ridiculous. It must eat tires for breakfast at just the thought of turning.

No point in doing the expedite truck if you pull the box, just get a regular semi.

I'm not a fan of the 89' of living space personally. That and rv trailers are insanley expensive garbage. I'd do a crawler hauler style trailer hands down.

But I'd rather have the expedite truck with the rig in the back. If you would rather pull the rig on a trailer then get on of the front engine diesel rv's and pull an 18' car trailer.

Why spend $50k on a stacker just to haul 1 rig?

4 axles is ridiculous, but that's like every semi in ID or WA. Quite a few 5 axle trailers. The dump trucks with 3 tag axles look like a kid drawing

I was thinking 2 rigs. One being a crawler/go fast toy and the other being a small car or SUV for when you just need to go get groceries or more beer. Save the back part of the box that is not being used for RV space as your storage/supplies area.

Reason for buying an expedited rig vs toterhome is the cost. Sure that freightliner RV you posted is bad ass and would get the job done but it's also probably about 200k all in. You can definitely buy a used expedited truck and stacker trailer for far less than that.

Gotta assume that expediter rig will be more manuverable as well, with the much shorter trailer.

Looked at some when i built my toter, most are fairly underpowered compared to just finding a tractor and doing a crawler hauler trailer.
lots of baby cats and cummins in most of them, and they run 24/7 usually, some of them with 3 drivers swapping seats.
i ended up with a twin screw kenworth with c15 for less than a expaditor chassis.

From the 1 video I've seen of a stacker, 2 sports cars are somewhat tight, you aren't going to get a crawler and suv stacked.

I wasn't comparing an outfitted expedite truck to the semi rv, I was comparing it to the semi and big ass trailer he posted. Even a regular toy hauler to fit a crawler is ~$100k+

Even the semi trailers need the cars suspension sucked down to make them fit. A buddy has a trailer like the one pictured above. He puts a speed boat and a Raptor in it. If that boat/trailer combo was over 4' tall I would be surprised, tight fit even then.

I'm on a blank sheet right now, the front engine Diesel "toybox" style motorhomes are cool, but probably out of the price range, I am fairly budget minded.

Same with a Stacker unless it was way used, and If I planned vehicles in the stacker they would be 4 runner based, and bets are a lifted and even a stock one probably would not fit.

As far as my buddies rig I know the work put in, and I know what he paid for the tractor portion, I don't know what the conversion cost.

I also know the extensive work put into the trailer to accommodate the 4 axle setup, but no idea on price. but the 45' warrior was not up to the task of being hauled around the country behind that truck.

The rig as pictured tips the scales at 56K.

As cool and compact as the Expediter rig looks, if they are like Mail jeeps 10k mileage 100K hours, and under powered It might not be the answer.

On the old site wasn't there some guys in Texas that did nothing but build conversion trailers to be towed behind toters??

basically taking big 5th wheels and setting them on custom built 48-53' trailers, big 5er up front room for a rig or two off the back?

Again, I have zero investment at this point, and the "look" of the expediter caught my eye. it may not be the best option though.

That is the first thing that I thought of too
I had a triple once, You were always changing tires on that thing, never the center though
