I have this damn dog that we got for my kiddo. That right there says it all, because if it wasn't my kids dog, I'd have just found a rehome situation. But here we are. Standard poodle (don't ask). Very well behaved, very loving, friendly kids dog. Perfect really, doesn't shed or anything. Half the size of our other dog. Here's the problem. She pees. She pees when she's excited. She pees when she's lonely. She pees every time somebody touches her. I've tried being super friendly for weeks, playing with her, etc, still go to pet her and she squats and pees. I've tried rubbing her nose in it and spanking her to no avail. It's 100+ here in Texas and the dog hasn't been inside in weeks because she'll pee anywhere. Concrete porch, back yard, vehicle, on carpet, on the hardwood, wherever. You touch her or she gets her heart rate up for any reason and she just squats and pees. Anybody have any ideas other than defective dog, return to sender?

It's an excited puppy thing, "should" grow out of it. Crate, then outside to do business, then playtime.

It could also be a medical issue like a UTI.

My 2 year old puppy still pees when she sees my mom. She is so excited she can't help it. I doubt it is any type of cognitive dog thought.

We meet mom in the driveway now.

My standard dachshund never grew out of it. If you leaned over him to pet he would piss . Squat down to pet, fine. He got many a strangers shoe. He didn't have accidents though. He was actually great about never pissing in the house.

I think my memory is from the before times over at the old place.
Guy had sled dogs maybe?
Dude was doing a nice 12 valve cummins swap, and then went full on, boot licking, stupid.

Maybe? Not going to go searching over there and I know I’ll never dredge it up out of my brain dump.
I'm referring to Jennsenkennels or some shit like that. It had a J and kennels.

not saying he was "fed-boi" be he was DEFINITELY LEO adjacent.

His build brought me to Pirate4x4 from a 4bt swap forum, but by the end I was glad when he went away.

I'd trade it in on a dog that isnt broken:flipoff2:
It's a thought for sure. I was thinking crate, but I don't think it's a housebreaking issue. It's an excitement issue. Not sure the crate would do much good. I've had about 10 dogs and have never crate trained any of them, but I do hear good things on it.

That’s the guy I was thinking of!

Not super uncommon, some dogs get excited and pee. It's more common in puppy's. I'm sure there is some dog shrinks that know what to do.

Wasn't he a guard or something?

Dad's dog was spayed really early and it fucked up her hormones. She never got past puppy bladder control. Same kinda deal. He has to give her meds daily for it. She's a purebred Alabama Doofus hound though, not a smart breed like a standard...which are great dogs in my experience.

no he wasn't not even close to one.

You guys and your stupid fed-boi whatevers. It's like a bad insult but worse.
I didn’t care for him. Maybe he was a liar. But I do believe it was his words that said he worked with law-enforcement. (could’ve been in a dog handler / trainer type position. That’s why I use the term “adjacent “)

I see your edit.
I accept your apology.., dumbass

Sounds like the poodle is afraid of a certain asshole.

I had a Heeler dog walking gig on a leash for 2 weeks & it peed everywhere (was forewarned). I just took my time calming the dawg & by the 3rd day, the floors were dry. And took longer walks too instead of the "okay, that's it, let's go back inside attitude. Poodles were once hunting dawgs (BTW, I had a Toy & Standard growing up).

Didn't I mention that the OP isn't exactly highly esteemed- :flipoff2:

Can be food related. Smaller dogs tend to not be able to handle the dyes in commercial dog food, overworks their kidneys and they tend to end up pissing more than normal. Piss stains worse too because less of the dye is getting filtered out.

Boil a big batch of chicken, rice, carrots, green beans, and a little olive oil. Should be able to make a few weeks worth for cheap. Feed it that for a couple weeks and see if it makes any difference.
