What's new

Don't we have a "bitch about idiots on CL or Marketplace" thread?

I guess I am Craigslist spoiled. I hate the way Facebook just throws everything in one big bucket. Sure, search for what you are looking for, but I like perusing through items of similar use. I may not know the right searchword, or maybe the seller is headfooked so the thing I want would never show up on a search. Or something goes up for sale I never even knew existed but would be awesome to own.... Probably someone will jump in to call me a boomer and explain how I am being stupid.

Hate facebooke.
FBs algorithms work perfectly for dishing up politics stories they think you will hit the like button on . And also for ads . Of stuff you never searched for just talked about near your computer or phone .

But the for sale stuff it’s just a total shitshow
They’ve gotta be doing it on purpose .
But the logic escapes Me

My kids friends play a game on their phones
They will all pull up instagram on one and FB on one amd other sites on other phones , then talk about am odd item that normally doesn’t come up in average conversation like “dehumidifier “

And they time how long it takes for an ad for the item they talked about to appear .

I stopped trying to sell stuff at all.
I just throw it in the trash if the thrift store won’t take it .

here is a reply i got from one of my CL ads

Do yoy 2 carver you want sale 1 for me?

Anything less than a few hundred bucks isn't worth the hassle of dealing with people as has been posted multiple times. Wheel fridge out to street put 'free and works' sign on it. If someone wants it it will be gone if not scrap guy will pick it up night before trash day.
I've tried that with an old freezer and it sat there with no takers. GF changed free to $50 and the fucking thing was gone in an hour, someone stole it.

Tried to basically give away a working fridge... Bunch of idiots

That thing looks disgusting. I'd be scared to ask for a picture of the inside. If I was looking for someplace to put food and drink, I wouldn't take that if it were free and delivered, let alone having to buy a case of beer and go get it. I'd just keep looking.

I'd say the seller is right to just say fuck it and take the thing to the dump :flipoff2:

I did wonder what the inside looks like.

I'm with 2 big. Lots of people are stupid, time wasters, cheap, etc. Filter them out and make your deals. Some stuff isn't worth selling, but is good for trading, some stuff is good for scrap, some stuff you just put on the curb with a "free " sign.
Some stuff you make a chunk of change on and look for the next

What would you expect when you post a Pic of a fridge that looks like it was used to store crab bait? :homer:

If I knew you, I might take it, but no way would I pay $20 for a case of beer to trade to a stranger for that pos :flipoff2:

Installed OfferUp again 2 days ago and just deleted that bullshit off my phone. Had a Nintendo Switch Lite I never use listed on there. Crowd on there is worse than Facebook. :barf:

Looks like the go-to for white trash housewives who have nothing better to do than lowball random shit. Sob stories out the ass about being too poor for little Timmy to play video games. Even had one lady message me asking me if I'd donate it to her son she had to put in rehab. Not a kid going through physical therapy, but her adult son with a drug problem. :shaking:

FB message for some stero equipment i had posted, dude is ill take ,call me i have some questions call him answer his questions , start figuring out time to meet,he says let me talk to the wife hear them talking....phone hangs up...crickets ever since.

I have used 2BB tactic before. was for a box blade for my tractor. guy was asking $1100. I fanned out $850 on the coffee table and took a pic. Said I can be there in 30 mins. he replied back $900 and I'll help you load it. :smokin:
My friends Dad taught me
(cash in envelope)

Put envelope on the hood
and say:

"One of us is going to pick that up, you get to decide"

I use that tactic all the time, works
(but you have to be willing to walk) (and I do)

have to remember that one. :smokin:

I always do all my negotiating before seeing whatever im buying in person. I price in all the possible fucked up things it could havi in my offer. Ive only walked on 2 out of the last 50+

I’ll counter with my latest MP encounter.

$1500 obo. Called chatted about what was wrong with rig agreed on price, sent a picture of cash and he sent a picture of the signed and notarized title.
Meeting Monday to pick up. Total time 10 minutes so far and probably an hour or so to go get it.

Easiest one I’ve had in awhile. Makes up for the last 2 I guess.
