What's new

Don't we have a "bitch about idiots on CL or Marketplace" thread?

why are people so adamant about "THE WHOLE TRUCK AINT FOR SALE!!!!!!!! PARTS ONLY!!!!!!"

do they want the headache of parting out a generic pickup? if someone offers a decent price why the fuck wouldn't you want to get rid of it all at once? I don't get it. As a buyer if I'm buying a truck for parts I don't give a shit about a title and would rather have the parts truck at my house so I can take what I need when I get around to it, not wait for some ape to rip the parts off the truck for me

Because they are willing to invest the time to make more money then you would ever offer. With people maintaining older vehicles over purchasing new/used because of stupid prices it is driving parts way up.

Let me guess, you are looking at a late 90s, early-mid 2000s chevy

They also know if they DONT say the truck is for sale people will be butt hurt. Plenty of people have parted trucks for years. Some must make more than others. It’s a time commitment too.

I would ask for the heater core or just the ring and pinion.

There are a bunch of scrappers out there holding onto steel for "when the price goes back up". I pulled all kinda rando BS off of a 2nd gen RWD 4runner that was like this. Home boy had all kinda fuckall in his back yard. Washing machines, other car bodies, lawn mowers, pipes, railings, etc. This 4r nuked the transmission so he was parting it out as much as possible, saving the body and frame for scrap price.

This guy was like, late 60s, overalls, cane, old AF John Deere hat. 90s purple Buick LeSabre parked out front. All this the scrap was behind his double wide. So he was legit.

I'm half convinced all that crap is gonna rust away before he has a chance to cash in on his scrap pile.

Just as an aside; my FIL sold my meth-head brothers car without a title recently for $500. Because the title was still being held by the bank for like $1000 in late fees. My brother dropped the car off on his property then disappeared. So my FIL was fuming about this car in his yard for months.

I told him how to do it the right way; put an ad on FB/CL for parts only then saw the car in half and make two trips to the scrap yard.

Instead he sold it without a title knowing the title is still being held by the bank. Which i told him is pretty much illegal. He said he told the guy a 100 times there was no title and there never will be.

FIL is happy now, the brother is in prison, and i guess the buyer is happy too as no phone calls.
buddy had a car from a relative on his property kept telling them to remove, finally sold it for parts only no title, told the guy 1000x , guy buys it and tries to title it, apparently finance company still owns it, state police show up threatening arrest, just gets an ass chewing, gave guy money back and finance company got the car.

I'm the guy who messages an ad 2 hrs away, then says I can pick up later that week or what have you. I travel up and down island a lot, and I might as well make one trip for the part and whatever else than making 2 trips at 3 to 5 hrs round trip. I explain that though and sellers have always been understanding.
Bought a 22re/w56/tcase, harness, and computer for $500 that way. Messaged him, he said $800, I said $500, I'll send $200 tonight, give you the balance Friday afternoon when we load it. I drove 2 hrs, gave him an 8 pack and $300, and away I went.

Then there's the guy who's been promising to show up to buy a $10 used dirtbike tire for 3 days....

I put a mop bucket (Rubbermaid ones with the squeeze thing) on fb for $15 had 5 different people commit to buy it then back out when they couldn't come up with the money. If you don't have 20 bucks spare in your wallet you don't need to be looking at ads

You know as hard as some of those companies go after people for not making payments you'd think they'd be better about finding/retrieving the cars they own. We have one at the shop that has been there for months now. Nuked a transmission and the customer decided that clearly if his car doesn't work then he doesn't have to pay on the loan anymore. We've contacted and been contacted by the loan company more than once but they still won't come get it.

My sister years ago got behind when her husband got laid off. Begged them to come get this Honda they had no fuss or fight just want to surrender it. They wouldn't come get it if someone was home. At all. To avoid confrontation and so it sat there for like 6 months being eaten by mice because people living on their savings with no money coming in don't leave the house much.:homer:

Listed a tv I didn't need anymore Thursday. Idiots out the woodwork including one moron spamming me random lowball offers every 30 minutes til I blocked him Friday. Lots of people ignoring the "no calls" in the ad and sending me their number.

Guy that bought it emails me this morning, says he'll take it. Asks if Venmo is ok, I say no, he says no problem he just needs to go to an ATM. Met at a coffee shop near my apartment. No bullshit, just handed me cash, let me count it, shook my hand and took the tv and left. Entire thing from start to finish was under an hour.

That's why I ignore morons and don't put my phone number in ads. Yeah, I could have sold it quicker, but ignoring the morons got me more money for less hassle and in my experience the idiots I ignore are the one's who end up not showing up or turn into some other bullshit hassle. I'm not so strapped for cash that I can't wait a couple days for a less bullshit buyer.

I bought a doublecab tundra cheap from someone that had a title loan on it in georgia. Then I figured out who had the title and offered them $1k for the title. They didn’t want to come look for it in Pennsylvania so they took it.

We had a Catera sit at a dealership for 10 years because the customer didn’t want it enough to get it fixed and the bank didn’t want it enough to repo it.

That how i try to do it.

I try to line up 4-5 items and save a couple as last minute/fall through. I offer to deposit something on certain items.

Hell, that and the no title stuff is how i got my current white crew cab. $100 deposit within a couple hrs of posting, went down that weekend and picked up. Dragging up onto a deck over trailer and handing the cash over took less than 45min. I had everything that i needed to make it run and drive and legal.

Tried to basically give away a working fridge... Bunch of idiots

All stupid ass women with nothing to do except voice their completely unwanted opinion on stupid ass facebook :homer:.

Clean it up, paint it siliver, black, red, etc and list it for $75-150 and people will be scrambling for it.
I have a full appliance set that came out of this house. It's all going on my scrap trailer. Not worth my time. Figured it would help someone. One person said "why would you post something without cleaning it?"it's a free fridge thats worthy of a garage... Why would I...

I thought the reactions were dumb? It's a free shop fridge. That works. That will probably keep working for the next 10-60 years. For free.

dumb bitches- "If you're going to give me something to use as a tool, it better look pretty!"

this..

it's free. if you don't like it then don't take it?

It wouldn't let me put free, so I just put it as 25... Figured the description would cover it

Anything less than a few hundred bucks isn't worth the hassle of dealing with people as has been posted multiple times. Wheel fridge out to street put 'free and works' sign on it. If someone wants it it will be gone if not scrap guy will pick it up night before trash day.

Did you ever find out how much Abbey wants for her used panties? Asking for a friend...

Not sure what's more entertaining...people wasting their time trying to sell a $15 item or those trying to buy a $15 item :homer:

:laughing::flipoff2:

Earlier today posted my old Trek 6700 mountain bike on marketplace. Hardtail aluminum frame. Probably sold for $1,000 +/- back in the day. It's got upgraded wheels, seat, and components (all LX). Needs elbow grease and a tune up. Posted it for $60. The seat and post alone are selling for twice that at the bike shop right now. I have clowns messaging with offers of "$50 cash right now". The butthurt when I respond that the price is now $80 is priceless.

if he has you scanning documents he is fucking around. Buyers get there with the money. 6 hours away just means he won’t buy it unless you give him a discount for driving. And he probably still won’t buy it.

Fawking dead on prediction right here. :flipoff2:

Dildo head just texted me "What is your bottom dollar to offload this car". And "by my calculations its gonna need tires and brakes soon". Thank goodness for google voice so I can just ignore him.

I just say, "Come look at this car" to all these idiots 2-3 states over and that ends it. One dude might come but probably not.
