Do I introduce my kids to star Wars with Episode 1 or 4?

OG 3, and forget the rest.

I sent a box set of the prequels to Good Will a month ago- there is zero chance I will ever in this life want to watch that crap again.

I like the 2nd and 3rd prequals a little more after watching the clone wars cartoons. It adds a lot more depth to the stories that gets left out in the movies.

I feel so at home here. There are only 7 Star Wars movies, 1-6 and Rogue 1 (3.5?). I was surprised to see so many think the same, no one I work with or regularly talk to does.
It looks like the consensus is start with 6 and some of us are nerds.

the consensus is get a life and a hobby outside of movies.

If they made an Episode 1 without Jar Jar binks, that'd be awesome.

Apparently someone created a version where they edited him out (maybe was on youtube?). I never saw it. It's probably been wiped out by google but it might still exist as a torrent somewhere.

And if they watch Phantom Menace, they have to watch this 7 part review (errr, maybe not, but you'll enjoy it)

I never understood the hype behind Star Wars or any of that sci-fi bullshit. Maybe I'm just autistic or something, but if it's not based in reality it really doesn't even interest me at all.

As a kid growing up when Episode 1-2-3 came out I enjoyed them a lot. Even after seeing 4-5-6 beforehand. But, if I was going to introduce kids to star wars I would start with episode 1. I feel the podracing, jar-jar, and anakin being a kid is easier for kids to warm up to imho

This is Star Wars now. Do not let anyone watch this bullshit. :shaking::shaking:

Watch the first 3
4, 5 and 6..... by 4 i mean 1 that stated all the star crap stuff.....
Screw the rest.

I watched up until that 3rd episode of that trash and skipped through most of it, not watching the rest.

Guess I'm to odd one here, 4-6 for sure. And I'd skip 1-3 and watch 7-9 any day.

Did like Roque 1, Solo not as much.

4,5,6, Rogue 1, 1,2,3. Quit.

The originals are awesome. Rogue 1 is excellent, especially the last 20 minutes or so. 1,2,3 were meh back in the day but I rewatched them a couple years ago and I liked them better than what I remembered.

7 was meh, 8 was fucking horrible, I still have never watched 9.

Watched the first season of Mandalorian and was bored outta my mind. Never watched any of the current series.

New Star Wars is dead to me and I loved it. Saw the original more than 100 times in the theater. Sometimes we could ride our bikes over and go the first showing of the day and stay till dark. I went to see Phantom Menace by myself at a midnight showing because I was working graves and got off early and the family was asleep so I was like fuck it....and went. Didn't like it. Too cartoonish, the clones were ridiculous weak and "cute" and Jar-Jar was fucking dumb.

How anyone "creative" could fuck up a character like Luke Skywalker so badly in 7 and 8 is beyond comprehension.

I’m the type of nerd who has seen all of this shit, read a bunch or fantasy and sci-fi too. I’ve spent literal years of my life consuming this stuff. Never once has it helped me do anything actually important.

Use the time to teach them how to tie knots, or cook, or build a birdhouse or something.

So they won’t get some references. Happens to me all the time with that Yellowstone show. Apparently some dude named rip kills people at a train station? How the fuck does that help me?

Didn't see an option for the correct answer in the poll. The Robot Chicken one would also be acceptable.
Outstanding suggestion.

"And I thought they smelled bad....................................................................on the outside"

What chaps my ass is the fact that everyone in this thread (including me, and except for the autistic dude) has watched them all. We have collectively had our enjoyment of the OG trilogy used against us and have repeatedly had our love of the story put into a sack and beaten against rocks.

Lucas knew what was up and sold out for 4billy, and I can’t even be mad at him for it.

I regretfully agree with what others have posted. Do your kids a favour and don’t get them involved in what was once the coolest universe ever, but has now devolved into complete laziness with lightsabers. Hell, even when they occasionally and accidentally shit out something good (R1, the Mandalorian) they immediately back it up with more trash.

It’s the hot chick from high school who would once give you blumpkins and threeways who is now methed out with five kids to six different fathers. You don’t regret getting involved, but wish you’d got out a lot sooner than you did.

I stuck to my guns when I said that the prequels are dogshit and won't watch any of it going forward, so I didn't. And they completely lost me when they said that only the 6 movies were canon, everything else was fake.

I guess maybe I should watch Rogue 1 again. "Girl leader leads guys on quest to push magic button" didn't do a thing for me when it came out, but everyone here says it's Apocalypse Now in space...so maybe I was asleep?

Prequels, yes. :barf:
OG, yes. :smokin:
Sequels, and all the Disney crap, no. :rainbow:

Well, Rogue 1.

Won't be fooled again. Maybe. Andor looks interesting.

Anyone watch any of the fan made stuff? This was pretty cool and puts disneys shit to shame. I think the thing that pisses me off is that Disney was handed a bad ass universe to build on and shit on it. The only explanation is they did it on purpose.

The really mindblowing thing is that they did it so badly. They want to make me a commie lesbian, fine, I get it, but entertain me at the same time. As you say, college kids with Blender do it better.

See Arcane for female empowerment that also tells a good story. It can be done, Disney are just too ham-handed to do it.

Its fucking entertainment dude. Well, Star Wars use to be at least.

Nothing different that watching Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, seeing a concert or going to a fair. I don't watch much TV or movies. Havent seen a movie in years in fact. Last TV I watched was Better Call Saul like 2 years ago now I think. Maybe less. I will throw on a baseball game but that is about it. There are just some cultural movies that I will watch. Forest Gump, Private Ryan, fucking Armageddon, shit like that.

Never see the need to come into a thread to tell everyone how I am more high and mighty than the discussion topic but you do you.

You have my utmost respect in knot tying I guess. :flipoff2:
