DOM Prices

Got 2 quotes today for $5K and one for $3150 for the same order of 4130N Chromoly round tube (basically around $15/foot for the more common sizes). So...obviously shop around.

JFYI....IMS (here in Phx anyway) can't get heavy wall 4130...max appears to be .120" wall. DOM can be had in the heavier stuff though if that works for you.

Still got one other quote I'm waiting on....thinking it will be around the $3K mark at best.

I just wanna find 3.5OD .250 and .375 and some 4x.250 in 4130

Just read a report about US Steel. Wonder what this will do to effect steel prices in the future if the deal doesn't go through.

U.S. Steel - No Deal Yet
The buyer says yes, and the seller says yes… so what's the holdup?

Well, Japan’s Nippon Steel has been eyeing U.S. Steel (X -17.47%) for months, and both companies are ready to say, “I do.”

But now, it’s less of a business deal and more of a campaign hot potato.

Both the Trump and Harris camps are throwing a fit, shouting, “Not in my backyard!” over the idea of foreign-owned U.S. Steel.

Nippon Steel promises to keep Americans at the helm, while U.S. Steel is basically saying, “Approve the deal, or we might start turning off the lights.”

Can't be a good thing long term for the US to have fewer steel suppliers....but such are the ramifications of political/environmental policy run amok.

USA made 1.75x.120 DOM $6.75 a foot.

It's some hard lobbying by Cleveland cliffs since Nippon came back and offered significantly more than they did. Cliffs already controls basically all of the Taconite in the US so giving them a bigger share of the pie isn't improving anything either. Letting US steel alone pretty much means they will eventually run themselves into the ground.

Just picked up around 320 ft of 2"x0.120 USA DOM wall up in Canada for 6.25$/ft Cad or $4.50 US/ft.
