Dockworkers strike.

Why aren’t these union members hanging their leaders who make millions? Instead they follow along with the playbook and blame “corporate greed”. Wankers.
Because the corrupt leader promises them 7% raises and it’s enough to shut them up for another contract

The members aren’t happy about it, they’re so deep into it they can’t do anything. It’s no different than the recent Teamster strike, they have crippled the film industry. The result is is 40% of productions are headed overseas! The members did not push for their ridiculous demands, upper management did :mad3:

The only supporters in the union are those typical people who would never do well without being protected anyway.

Union members need to vote harder too I guess.

We went Monday for our monthly trip into the big city. It was relaxed but the panic shopping was starting. Other than that the typical poor shopping cart etiquette was in full swing

Teamsters played with the company My son and I work at, for 30 years, guys at the time thought they been gold for years.
Company has multiple locations within 50 miles of the one we work at, 3 are non union 3 are, non union guys make an average of $3 hr more than union guys and they are not paying out $700 in union dues.
Retirement was switched to a 401k, and health insurance is the same as the non union locations, But yeah union.

Do you get a pension after retirement?

Panic buying is apparently beginning in the Phoenix area also. Went to a local Albertsons to pick up a 6 pack and distilled water. Almost all the water was gone, and the store was packed. Fuggin idiots.

Curious what company that is. My boss had similar happen to him. Blue and silver logo?

I'm not a union guy but i see the place for them in the beginning. I don't do that job, my only experience I have with the shipping business is from the end of one of my customers ( who are really worried about whats going on) BUT... They have specific anti-automation clauses in the contract. That is hurting the country. I see the union fighting to keep their jobs but you should want re-training for affected people. Union automation operators. The union should be fighting to help the members and the country. Thats what I would do. This attitude is probably why I'm not rich and will probably work until the day I die while union bosses retire with 6 figure retirements.
Robots don't pay union dues. The union is only trying to protect itself, they don't give two shits about the dockworkers.

Wouldn't that be the 401k, safer than a pension. Pensions belong to the pension holder and can be liquidated as a company asset, happened to my grandpa when the company he retired from bankrupted, they're basically an IOU especially the defined benefit style pensions. A 401k is your money and can be rolled into other plans.

The union sucks at reading the room and communication.

You can say "I want a 77% raise over 6 years", or you can say "we want a $5 an hour raise, each year over the next 6 years"... the same thing, but one sounds halfway reasonable, and one sounds greedy.

And the Automation thing is a dream. Once you invented a gun, you can't expect a deal saying you only will allow the use of bow & arrows. Once the technology is out there, it will get implemented.

Harris endorses the strike?

Not at all surprising or unexpected.

It'll have to be post-election if she does. Can't flounder on her "visions of hope. Of being able to afford a house, or go on vacation" or she'll have to come up with a shitton more mailed in ballots.

I hope she joins the picket line in Florida and gets run over by the NG protecting the scabs.
