When I was a kid, we'd always stop at Kesselring's on our way to or from California, park way down at the end so they didn't see our plates, and dad would go in with a mitt full of American cash. I'd be instructed not to mention home, holiday, vacation, visiting, etc, because they wouldn't sell anything to a Canadian. Dunno if that was dad being careful, or a store policy, or what.
I seem to recall them being shut down for some illegal sales type stuff anyway, so it may well have been for naught.
