Do you back in?

My crewcab long bed is much easier to park well by backing in. The side mirrors on it are dialed in too. No frickin Cameras.

I always park my Motorcycles facing out too. Leg power and strategy, no reverse gear.

Really depends what I'm driving. Anything long like a truck I'll generally back in. My Jeep I don't bother because it turns so sharp, but I'll always pull through if I can unless I'm somewhere I'll need to put shit in the back. Can be a pain in the ass if someone pulls close and I need to open the tailgate all the way.

My suburban I try to always back in. It's always easier to drive forward out of a spot.
My work truck I back in most of the time due to it being our company policy.

I know a lot of people can’t back up very good. It would seem to me that it’s easier to back out than back in. When you back out, there’s nothing to hit but the car across the isle. The isle is probably 16’ wide. When backing in, you have a car on either side and it’s probably only 8’ wide. (If that)
There was a study that showed it was safer, because backing into a parking spot, you're backing into a static situation. I.e. none of the other cars are moving, as opposed to backing out of a spot you have pedestrians and cross traffic to contend with.

How much safer? Didn't matter. The bean counters saw "safer" so that's what they called for. Same reason companies with huge fleets were mandating three rights instead of one left a decade or so ago. Then they found that additional tire wear and fuel cost negated the savings from the rare occurrence of cross traffic accidents.

I’ve been to a lot of airports (I’m a pilot) and never seen this.
A parking space is a "controlled" space. I driveways or parking lot or roadways is a "non-controlled" space. It is safer to back into a controlled space than a non-controlled space.

Lots of people can't drive.
We should make life harder on these people.
Ha-ha, I kind of agree with this logic. The only problem is if some one backs in to my Delorean when it’s parked and leaves, I’m screwed, not them. If they back into me driving through a parking lot, I can do some avoidence, and if the worse happens, they arnt leaving.
