I'm late to this party, I had an 05 cummins/auto 2500 before my new Ford. Only put 60K in 18 years, but really no problems.
I had a programmer (only set on 2 out of 10, to respect the stock 48RE) and near the end, a dual stage water/meth injection.
It was Ok on power, but I did baby it, especially on the highway coming in/out of 4th/locked converter. That kind of limited me
on pulling hills "hard".
Problem was when loaded up, it developed some kind of resonance, right at 70-72 that was super annoying.
The more weight and/or more engine load you had/needed, the worse it got. No actual vibration really, so
wasn't sure where to start.
I got my 23 F250 CC LB 4WD PSHO without really reading up on current SD quality. I've had other new Ford's recently, so
I kind of knew quality was not going to be top notch. I paid $66K for an XLT in above config with HO diesel, bed liner,
mud flaps, and rear locker as only options. I don't DD my tow rig, so a 10 yr, 50 or 60Kish warrantee will suffice and if it
blows up, it blows up. After warrantee, might delete (if parts still available) or look for something else.
So far, I had a huge issue with stock tires and balancing and one front shock blown (under 3K miles)
All that said, I don't care. I will never give back the newfound power I have pulling "only" 10K. So nice when you have two 18 wheelers
riding side by side for miles and miles @ 56 MPH (a ton of highways in PA are only 2 lanes), and you get an opening, you can go like
you are driving a mid grade perf sedan. Yes, it is THAT good and I fucking LOVE it.
