I see people using these for all kinds of trucks, campers, caravans, trailers, and even for shop heat.

Here's the Amazon link: https://a.co/d/d0OJk2I

And the coupon code: DAPHKK59

The 2KW version is 5% off and the 8KW has a $10 coupon, but the 5KW is the biggest discount.

No idea how this particular one compares. It looks like several of the other Chinese versions being offered out there.

They all show "currently unavailable" for me.

Only the all-in-one shows as only one left for me. All the others show in stock with delivery next week.

Abitibi is Canada, right? That may be the issue.
You`re right, it`s me.

I opened it in ìncognito mode thinking it wouldn`t know my location and default to USA, but it didn`t.

Carry on!

A bunch of the cruiser guys in my region have those cheap Chinese ones. They all say they work great, and have for the past few years.

Are all these china amazon heaters about the same, or is there a 'better than the rest' version out there?

This guy reviews and tears down a bunch of em. Does experiments too, on the controls, fuel system, etc.

From what I've seen there and elsewhere, all the Chinese ones are the same. It's a pretty simple contraption all things considered. All of the controls suck unless you get a real one, like webasto or an espar.

I've done some research because I intend to use one of the "parking heater" ones, that heat a fluid instead of air, to heat my enclosed trailer.

I wonder if I can burn off all my used oil in them.

They tend to coke up if you use anything other than #2 diesel. That means you have to split the burner and clean it out quite a bit since the burn chamber is quite small.

If you're on the fence about one of these, just fucking do it. I've been using them for a couple years now. It heats my cab over camper into a comfy lodge even when it's well below freezing. They sip diesel and power. About 1/3 gal for a solid 12-14 hours run time. They pull about 10 amps during start up and shutdown when the glow plug is going, which is about 30 seconds to a minute max and then they lower down to just the fuel pump and blower motor that takes about 0.75 amps.

I am giving a spare to my brother that he is going to use for shop heat.

I have another spare that works as parts for me. It's all interchangeable and very simple.

All same. The only difference really is the body, the look of the remote/control screen, and the sizes. But at heart, they're the same shit.

A lot of 2kW are actually 5kW labeled as 2kW. If you're going for a camper install and space is a premium, make sure to get a true 2kW. The link above looks to be a true 2kW. It might be getting easier now as they become more popular, but a few years ago it was kind of hard to get a true 2kW.

For reference, I have a Four Wheel Camper grandby model (8ft truck bed), so I am in canvas sides with low insulation, and a 2kW will heat my camper perfectly.

I wonder if I can burn off all my used oil in them.

Basic answer - no. It will soot up bad. Diesel or kerosene otherwise you'll be cleaning it out a lot. That's what I've seen on all the facebook "chinese diesel heater troubleshoot" groups. Never tried myself.

Running a vevo unit in our fifth wheel that I installed in the basement before this trip. It has been getting down to the middle thirty’s every night. I let it idle on the lowest setting. The regular furnace might run once during the night. I am amazed at how efficient the thing is. It literally sips diesel. One tank of fuel will run for two days almost.

Works okay in my 160sqft sea can

This is an uninsulated steel heat sink.
I have the 5kW unit. If I run it for an hour before going out keeping the doors latched it makes the area workable.

Can’t latch from the inside so then there is a 2” gap around the door roughly 12ft in length so the heat escapes pretty fast.

The trick for me is getting the steel warmer and once it is, everything is better

What is the noise rating on these units? Can someone get a decibel reading with a phone app?

I can do that the next time I’m in there, more quiet than a large propane burner for sure… especially with the exhaust vented outside.

My yacht mod 😆

I have 4 Ebersparcher ones in my 2 trucks at work. They are completely undependable. Work fine for a day, then next day ERR code and the box is -20*.

They've spent easily 5k on the 2 in the new truck between install and trying to get them working right.
The old truck had $1200 of work on them last year.

They have enough trouble with the things one shop has a dedicated test bench for them.

If the Chinesse ones are even 1/2 as good, a person would be money WAY ahead.

Did you install them? any pics of installations?

I have had 3 chinese models and haven't had issues.

Not sure on the old truck, but new was installed by Seneca Tank.

They are mounted to the front wall, about 3.5ish feet from the floor. Suck fuel from the truck's tank.

When they actually work, it's not bad. I think 1 would keep an ~1800 cu ft box hot if it was kept closed.

Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but you want a 2kW (less output) over a 5kW (more output)?

I think you're reading it wrong. I am saying some Amazon vendors will send you a 5kW when you order a 2kW. If you're installing it in a location where mounting space is crucial, that's a problem. The link in the OP looks like a true 2kW and you can tell by the 60mm outlet pipe. 5kWs are 75mm.

For what it's worth, a 2kW is plenty for my soft sided Four Wheel Camper (grandby 8ft bed model).

If I was going for shop heat, I'd rock an 8kW. So it all depends on your application. I just wanted to point out that you can get fucked on the cheap ass vendors if you don't look into it to make sure.

I think his point is that if I paid for a 2kw and received a 5kw, it wouldn't be a bad thing. Is fuel efficiency that much worse with a 5kw that it makes a difference?

I have never done a fuel test. I gave the 5kWs I had off to friends. Twice the heat output would leave me imagining twice the fuel consumption. It's really just a little aluminum burn chamber that has heat sinking on the outside and a blower motor pulls air through the body and aroud that whole unit. There are cool youtube break downs of them.

Ok. That makes sense. Yeah, I was wondering how 2.5x more heat than you thought you were paying for would be an issue.

Ordering a 2kW and getting a 5kW is a problem if you have space concerns. There are body dimension drawings out there if you have any concern. the 2kW is something like 1.125" narrower and ~3" shorter.

Here's a pic of where I mounted mine. It's in the nook of my camper/utility body combo where the wheel wheel normally is on a truck bed. a 5kW will not fit here and 5kW of heat is overkill for the camper. So 2kW is perfect.

I have the espar unit now for 6 years in the wifes grooming van. It runs non stop from late nov to march non stop. I have to change the glow plug, filter screens every year and the blower motor last 3 seasons. Its very simple to work on and they r quiet in the truck but sounds like a mini jet enfjne outside the truck. I would say 60 db outside noise.
