Did any of the good chevy ecotec tech get migrated over here from the old board? My searches keep coming up empty. I know most of it was scattered in different areas on the old board but i swear there was a master ecotec tech thread somewhere.

Im gathering parts for a build and had a bunch of stuff written down from the old board over the years (part numbers mostly). Mainly from Yager's build and tech for his 2.2 L61 ecotec swap.
That info is like 10 years old.

Any new tech on here or someplace else I should be looking?

Plans are to pick up a LE5 out of a solstice that already has the rwd parts on it.

I want to build something small/light/fun and use a bunch of crap I have laying around.

I had a LNF YJ build over there that I need to migrate over here.

do it man, seems that little to none of the ecotec builds have made it over here.
If i go back its gonna feel like im cheating on the new board:laughing:

im going LE5/ax15/atlas4spd. Might use my narrowed YJ hood and grill and just build as chassisssiss, may slap a turbo on it.

I have a LSJ in my kit car, so I’m familer with them, but not all tech about them.

A guy here at work is into ecotec rail buggies and turned me onto a guy on FB called RDM Ecotecs. Supposedly he builds the best stand alone harnesses out there. His 2.4 stuff is all new, not reworked stock stuff.

I would love to find a factory turbo motor but they are really hard to come by around here.
I went with a 45k mile LE5.

I wanted to do an ecotec to SM465 but couldn't figure out how to make it work without committing to buy a bunch of parts I'd have to hock... so I ended up doing the typical thing and found an LS because I'd know it would work. I'd still love to try a wuhan war whistle ecotec to SM465. Subbing for future daters

LS is definitely a good option with endless transmission combos.

I want to use the axles I have (waggy D44/Ford 9") so I didnt want to go V8. D44 will get RCV's and reid knuckles, and the 9" will be full float 35 spline. Again just trying to use what I have on hand and stick with 37-38's. Main goal is make it fit on my race trailer and stay at or under 3000lbs.

looks like Manual options behind the eco are limited. I went the easy route, solstice bellhousing to ax15. I am picking up the ax15 tonight. clutch parts are out for delivery.
Trying to sell my DR650 bike, as soon as its gone I will order the 4 spd atlas. I want the entire drivetrain built and ready to go before i start donor shopping or building a chassis.
With steel prices sky rocketing I am leaning more toward a small donor. 2 Door tracker, maybe an Isuzu Pup.

anyone know if the trans pattern is the same on the LCV 2.5's? I noticed the intake and exhaust swapped sides.

My LS will be powering D44s LOLZ 😂
I am being optimistic that 34-35” tires will keep the axles alive. I also plan to program the rev limiter to 4500-5000 RPM in hopes to keep them alive.

You could always build a flat fender like me :D just find a vin and buy a new tub! Build everything and fit the tub later. Ax15 was too long for my application unfortunately without stretching the tub, it was one of my first choices or the AW4

Sounds like a horrible combo. Those gear splits suck with an OK running V8, can't imagine with a 4cyl.

To try and stay on topic, since I don't know much about them, start with basics.

They are 60* gm pattern? So, 700r4, tf904, aw4, ax5 and ax15 are all common rwd trans that will bolt up? 904 being super short with the tail housing delete.

Flatty would be fun as hell. I am shooting for 102-103" WB so i can fit the ax15 and atlas fairly easily. I ran 37"s with 101", ax15 to a 203/300 doubler in my YJ and it all fit well.

Look at Saab’s. 250 hp turbo motors with the pcm mounted under the hood. I bought one for 250 but it was too nice to steal parts from so I fixed it and flipped it.

btw, I hope everyone is replacing the cam chains and water pump in these things. That seems to be the biggest issues with them.

Nope they arent the common 60* but the dowls line up so making adapters for 60* trans is fairly simple. There are Adapters on the market for TH350, 400 and powerglide.
People have made adapters for 4l60E. Some of the single seat buggy guys made adapter plates for a 904.

The solstice/sky RWD applications run a MA5 manual that has the same front case as an ax15 and R150 yota trans. SO you can use a factory GM solstice bellhousing that bolts directly to the ax15/R150. The R150 input shaft is too short so to run the R150 you have to swap the 10 spline AX15 input into the R150.

so with the solstice bell you can easily mount an ax15 and any round pattern Tcase. Or use the R150 and adapt it to gear driven yota cases.

I have a set of race scales so I will get accurate weights of all components. Most interweb info says the LE5 is about 280lbs. Last time I shipped an ax15 I think it was 92lbs.
What does a 4 spd atlast weigh? 150lbs?

Tech in chit chat :flipoff2::flipoff2::laughing:

my shiny new solstice bellhousing mated to a R150 front case

I want to drop a LTG in place of my 22re so damn bad. I scour copart for a wrecked caddy, but they always go for too much.

Which is the LTG? ATS motor?
