Laying out things for my 60 swap and need to get the steering box figured out. What everyone doing for the pitman arm? Will be running cross over with hydro assist. I don't feel the yota box will have the throw I need to get max turning from my 60.

Have WFO springless arms.

Most people seem to just buy whatever arms, hook it up and run it.

I plan to figure out the throw of the box, then figure out the exact spot on the arm to get full steering and drill my own hole.

I ran it for a long time. Ran a Sky 3/4 drop pitman arm and single highsteer arm on the passenger side. Arm was drilled where needed to get full swing with a Toyota box.

I still have the steering arm in the shop IIRC.

That's kinda what I was thinking I'm gonna do. Didn't know if someone had a longer pitman arm or something though

I’ve used fj80 arm as the stock Toyota pitman arm didn’t have enough throw. I’ve also used sky’s splined section and built my own longer pitman arm. Fj80 is 7.25” center to center with 3/4” of drop iirc.

This of course will dictate where the box needs to set. You may not be able to get it forward enough to run the longer arm with out deleting front body mount.

I’ve been using fj60/80 boxes since they’d forward swing. Just have to notch the frame to get your up travel if that makes sense.

Hope this helps.

My box sits infront of the factory rad support location already. I'm gonna give the fj80 arm a shot.

Stock FJ80 arm is a little longer and does work on the ifs box.

This the right arm? With the curve?

For informational purposes too. Fj60/62 had a longer pitman arm too. But they’re thin and weak. I believe they have more drop than fj80 too. Personally I wouldn’t use them.
