Sorry, guys .... the axle I am talking about is HP or reverse cut gear set. It's the same type Ford's stuck in fronts of trucks for years.
Also, Ford front 60's are all reverse cut gears, but not all reverse cut gears are "thick cut". Reverse cut means that it drives the strong side of the teeth, inside of the weak side.
BTW, it's not really reverse rotation, in that the ring in front moves in the same direction as the ring in the back, but it has been called reverse rotation for years. Reverse rotation is really for portal axles, etc.
Perhaps the single most misunderstood axle term is reverse cut, often mistakenly referred to as reverse rotation. A reverse cut housing is not a standard cut housing turned upside down, it is a specially designed housing. The term "reverse cut" refers to the direction of the spiral cut in the...

Dana still does carrier splits that moves that flange around. Carriers are cheaper than gears.
Thick gears (I think not OEM) came about to stick numerically higher gears on and lower factory carriers, that have more space between the carrier ring flange and pinion. Like 4.56's on a 4.10 carrier.
I didn't mean to mess up this for sale ad.
My question is about the 2005+ F550 HP60... they use a bigger, 10" ring. It's been called the Fat Boy or "Super 60"... instead of the Super Duty 60.
The Dana Super 60 high pinion front axle is based on the traditional Ford Dana 60 axle but designed for the 2005 and newer Ford F450 and F550 Super Duty. Check it out inside 4-Wheel & Off-Road Magazine.

I'll call Yukon tomorrow. As I said, I have 4.88's so the carrier split on this is perfect.
