What's new

Dana 110/130/135

We should assemble a table of info in the first post of the thread. What years had what axles, reference photos, spline counts for the different diffs+axle shafts, etc.

So, I bought a GMC based S150 from a Kodiak 5500.

It's an S150, with 8 on 275MM wheel pattern and Meritor based, 4 piston calipers.

I'll have it here later this week, but the housing looks thicker than the Ford S135 It also looks like I can use the Ford hubs and rotors with these calipers and have better brakes.

Did you just volunteer to do that? :flipoff2:

We're playing around with this Dana Spicer M300. It has a locker, but it's not what you think. It has sensors for either axle shaft, that via the brake (ABS) computer would lock or pulse brakes on a side of this axle.

Use a 2005+ F250/F350 unit bearing and a 14.53” 2004 F450 rotor. I think they might have changed the rotor size in later years but for a good while after 2005 it was still 14.53”. That will get you back to 8 on 170mm but I am not for sure that the spacer will work with the 2005+ unit bearings.
This is finally confirmed:

Thanks for the details.

So, yes, you can make the Fat Boy 8 lug and keep the big assed brakes. You can make it 8 on 170MM or 8 on 225MM.

Looks like it might, but would need some dimensions to know for sure.

If you can find out what those hubs were used on you can probably just buy a junkyard axle for about the same price.

Yeah, but our axles are already installed.

No, he's saying instead of buying those hubs new, find whatever truck had them from the factory and find them for way cheaper in a junkyard.

I spent 30 minutes looking for this part number in the online spicer catalogs but it's not coming up

The 2017 Dana 60 should have the fat 28 spline pinion instead of the regular 29 spline. The 2017 and newer F450 and F550 use a M300 rear axle and I am pretty sure the electric locker isn’t offered in them. I think open differential and a trac-loc are the only thing available for them.
No electric lockers in any of the DRW axles in Ford 17+ right?

Yeah that's that I meant.

Like buy it from a junkyard, swap hubs, have a "free" axle sitting around to do what you want with later.

Missed it by that much... I asked them for wheel bolt pattern dimensions.

But I also found them with free shipping.

Also found a shifty website that has them at 220 each.

Can someone measure their old hub, please?

GLTHFJ60 looking at you...

I recycled all of them a long time ago, lol.

We can look up the spindle dimensions most likely, at a minimum the bearing numbers which gives us the bearing dimensions, but again, I can't find that part number in the online spicer catalogs to find any associated parts or diagrams.

I have a call into Dana Spicer to ID that hub.

Anyone know the torque specs for the axle shaft to hub bolts? S130

Real fuckin tight? I don't think I found a torque spec, so I just measured the bolt section width and looked up a generic torque spec for that size fastener. I want to say 150-175ish ft/lbs

I also found an interesting Ford doc that may answer some of the questions here.

Was thinking about this today, so I finally broke out a tape...

According to the PDF, the WMS for the dually should be 74", but please correct me. I measured the the spare axle I have and it's 72.5" WMS.

If Billavista's d60 bible is correct, the front is 69.25... with the dually adapters removed, but keeping the 2" 10-lug adapters, the WMS could end up being 72.5"...

Thing is, this thread is about the rear ends and I think you're asking about the front.

That said: Which dually? Which year?

I don't have 2" 10 lug adapters. Mine are like 4.5" - This is a 20101 F550 "Fat boy" Super 60.

If we're talking rears, no adapters, it's all 10 lug flange.

You forgot that I started this thread? so it's all about me! :flipoff2:

But I don't think we ever got the narrow WMS... so I measure. You're welcome. :flipoff2:

The 8-10lug adapters on my front D60 are aftermarket... 2" thick

You agreed that this would be a rear end, bible.

Well, that's not something that would be in an OEM book.

There is plenty of info out there on the front ends. You also have a regular 60, not a "Fat Boy" Or a 2005+ SD 60.

Looking here in Dana's S14-110 spec PDF and I see that some of these axles - apparently - accepted 16" wheels. Does anyone have any idea what application(s) that could have been, or what the brake and hub part numbers may be? Long shot but I figure it's worth asking...

It may be generic verbage for suggested wheel size. Spicer doesn't supply brakes normally.
