I am shopping for a used 4cyl. Cheap, a to b car that gets decent mileage and might be a little peppy. Budget is $6k

I would love another WRX, (02-07) but clean ones I would trust are over the $6k price point.

I can find Civics in their various varieties for approx $4000, which seem to fit the bill as far as MPG and a little peppy, but riced ones sound horrible to me. (I LOVE the WRX sound though)

Here's what I am looking for:

Manual trans
Seats 4
Somewhat "fun" not expecting a race/track car but it needs to get out of its own way.
High 20mpg or better preffered.

Looking at:
Mini Cooper S
Civic
WRX

Well....went a little sideways....

my 17 year old wanted one, honestly so did I. 😆

Figure a stock Honda Civic/integra motor would wake it up a lot.

Get one of these. Zippy, 3 pedals, good stereo, rides/handles good, has a built in calculator and reliable as hell. In 19 years it's had coil packs, plugs, a few batteries, a used AC compressor, brake pads, and a few sets of tires. Bonus points for actually being built in Japan.

This is not on your list, but my son just bought a 2008 Honda Fit, he uses the thing as his commuter/ truck, he folded down the rear seats threw a rubber mat in the back he hauls his work stuff around in it. Also the roofline is good for the rear seats.

it gets 35 mpg or so and has been dependable as all hell.
He paid $4500

I'd recommend a sport with cruise control. Stay away from the later models 2007-2012 are the best. 30+mpg, manual, $35 fill ups and tons of space
Made in Japan models are quality. Hence the earlier models
