any good? Thee is one locally for 35k. Seema bit high but what do I know. Dual Spindle, live tooling which seems cool.

but needs a coolant pump rebuild and a relay?

I was looking at a Fadal 4020 for 20k but it's sold :( he has this still.

? Why's that. Everyone says they still have cheap parts all other and support is very good from the aftermarket, manuals are cheap and easy to get. Programming also seemed to be pretty good as it steps you through every step.

What's decent brand to look at for small shop usage?

Weasel.. I have a 99 daewoo puma 230ms with live tooling i'll make you a great deal on. I have a bar feeder, chip auger , spindle liners, and quite a few tool holders to go with it. It has 2500 ish hours on it and nothing is wrong with it. I am about to downsize my shop and I'll sell it for what I owe on it ($29k?)

All depends on what you want to use them for. Mine has worked well and allowed me to purchase alot of the support tools instead of dropping alot of coin on a Haas or other mills. A Fadal with rotary can be found for 12-15K on the facebook group. No way do they keep up with the newer tools but they are like the tractor of the cnc mill world. Dirt cheap to fix.

But I do love the ease of the Haas controller on my lathe.

I picked up my 1996 haas vf3 for $12k off FB marketplace. It still holds a .001" tolerance all day. One of the best purchases my shop has made. I agree with you on the fadal though...if i was just looking for a cheap extra machine I wouldnt hesitate to buy one
